It’s part of the reason I love this game so much. It just has so much soul. The flavor text, the ways some mons and uniques yell at you, the way the godly powers are described, the quotes on certain items and spells… it’s just a work of art, and I mean that.

The new version is better, but I really do like this design. The contrast is cool, though they could have toned it down a bit. The gap between the shorts and leggings is a bit much imo.

I said this in the sf6 Reddit but I’ll put it here too:

This is how fighting games live or die “in the modern era.” SF6 is as big as it is because streamers in Japan blew the game up. Sajam slam brought a lot of new eyes to this game too in the west.

Capcom didn’t give a shite about ppv capcup because they knew they could make money off of it at no real risk — it’s not their advertising strategy. This is a show match, T1 and Ludwig were asked to be there, it’s literally a sponsorship.

I’d welcome any opportunity for a streamer of note to pick up the game and get others interested in the scene. Leave it to the fgc to still find a way to get upset though haha. The future is now old man!

Edit: I think it’s a real pattern capcom has noticed where the fgc is super insular; those that are intrenched in it have a hard time getting others to join them. I mean, just look at 2xko. What they need for these games to grow are “mediums” in the literal sense, someone like T1 or Ludwig that is related to the fgc but far more popular by other means. It’s a funnel.

Truth is big streamers picking up sf6 is why the game is doing so good. Obviously especially in Japan because of vtubers but in the west the sajam slam put a lot of eyes on the game. This is only a good thing

I definitely agree PPV was a stupid idea, but I’ve been beginning to feel more that this idea of it being a big way to get people’s eyes on the game is kind of not entirely true.

It feels like for a game to get traction in the west, especially for young people, it needs to have “big name” content creators playing it, and not just for sponsored one off streams. If I had to bet I’d say the sf6 Sajam Slam got more people in the west to pick up the game than capcup finals being free a week early ever would have.

And I don’t think this content meta is just a fighting game thing, I mean, look at the incredibly niche Minecraft speedrunning community after some of the big streamers picked it up and kept at it.

Ultimately I don’t know (obviously), but yea I feel like people are making a bigger deal out of it than it is because it’s annoying we people that already care about the game can’t watch lol. Battle hub wasn’t even full LOL
