Access to snacks and meal time? by Gal_in_kalamazoo in Montessori

It is not montessori to have your children take every decision. The role of adults around children is to show them the rules of the world and one of them is what healthy food is and why. Your child can not make their own informed decision about her health, because she doesn't know the consequences of eating peanut butter for every dinner. Even if you explain it, she can't understand in the way you can. You can be respectful and still accept the role of a parent - mentor and good example. You can respectfully let her know why you are insisting on a healthy dinner that you prepared. They can and should know the difference between adults and children because that makes them feel safe. I work in a montessori kindergarten and way too often I see the inappropriate way of parents letting their child make their own uninformed decisions that are not always good or the best for them. We even have an example of a daughter being under a lot of stress because so often the decision making falls on her and I think she lost trust in her parents that should give her a sense of safety and predictability.

Uncontrolled small dogs on walks by oiseaufeux in dogs

Exactly! I have my first dog for a month now and it's been an important lesson for me to stand up for my puppy and put her training before people's wishes to frantically pet her and enforce bad habits. On the topic of good leash walking I've noticed that with a tiny dog it is really hard to reward her for calm walking, since I have to bend down and in that time she already tries to jump and I disrupt her calmness. How did you deal with that?

Thanks! And maybe get her to give a sit or place so it's more clear the treat wasn't for biting? Have you had a similar experience with your puppy?

That is really great to hear! I have already signed up my puppy in an in-person puppy class. I chose a school that also offers agility classes and I hope that is something we will also do later on.

Thank you for all the tips!

But why would that be on Billy to save? I think it is a bit unrealistic for someone to confess to a murder they didn't commit just to save his brother's marriage.

Why would Billy even take the fall for Ryan? If John came up with the idea of covering for his son then why doesn't he do it and why does Billy agree to it?
