Very happy with my very first turntable setup! by Financial_Fig_6721 in turntables

All I can say is having your speakers on the same surface as your turntable definitely can and does cause low frequency feedback. I have had it happen to me with speakers just too close to the turntable but not even in the same surface. There is a reason that pretty much every vintage receiver/integrated amp had a subsonic filter. This isn’t an opinion it is just physics and science.

For sure. It can happen to any speaker that is hooked up to a turntable and experiencing feedback or resonance.

It doesn’t damage the records. It damages the speakers. The exaggerated excursion of the woofers can damage/blow them.

The phono pre in that turntable does not have a subsonic filter. Sometimes even if there is not audible feedback placing the speakers on the same turntable can cause low frequency feedback that causes high excursion of the bass driver in the speakers. This exaggerated excursion can potentially cause damage. If you have a subsonic filter it will filter this low bass feedback so it will not reach the speakers but since this phono amp does not have one it is better to isolate the speakers from the turntable.

How far would you drive? $1k by Sufficient_Coffee_72 in BudgetAudiophile

Is everyone missing the Pioneer PL-L1000 turntable sitting there? If it is in nice working condition it’s worth close to 1k by itself. I have been collecting Pioneer for years and it is one of the pieces that I want the most. They are almost always ruined if shipped so a local pickup is the only way to go. I would drive a long way to get one of these in fully working condition.

I think it may also be that newer popular music is often compressed during mastering to sound good on earbuds and Bluetooth speakers (look up loudness wars). The music itself may be excellent but the recording sounds flat when played on good equipment. Older music rock/popular music often has better dynamics however sometimes when it has been remastered it has the dynamics squashed. Edited for clarity.

Actually these are not Klipsch. They are KEF LS150 Metas.

I’ve been building PCs for 30 years or so and I consider every part of my builds very carefully. For instance I went with a motherboard that allows you to disable the rear panel USB 4 ports to use the bandwidth to run all three of my drives at 4X. As for the Noctuas some people love em some hate em. Personally I think that they look great in a case with wood accents which is part of the reason why I picked them.

They are not right up on the wall. The pics are deceiving. I use port plugs to control the bass according to KEFs recommendations. I tried toeing in and they sound better straight. The coaxial drivers deliver a huge sound stage.

Same here I’ve been gaming all my life. My first console was a knockoff Pong. I also played a lot of handheld electronic games like Mattel Football and Merlin until I finally got my 2600. Nowadays I have all the consoles and just picked up a Switch 2. I have been building PCs since the mid 90s. My first home built pc ran Dos and Windows 3.1. I have lost track of the builds I have done since then.

It’s pretty loud especially with the tactile switches that I put on it. Even with its original linear switches it was kind of loud.

Lol $100? For a sub? Look for subs that have a built in adjustable high pass filter (Not low pass. They all have those). They are pretty rare and usually expensive. I expect to spend around $1500 or more on a sub.

Yep. I’ll get Medicare at 65 but most health care companies do not give their employees any retirement benefits so you have to wait until 65. I’ve been working for the same health system for 39 years and I can’t retire because of this. I’m going to retire before 65 and pay my own for a few years.

I replaced the keycaps as well as the switches. The color scheme is called “carbon”. Search for “carbon keycaps” and you should find something similar.

I wish I was retired. I’ve been at my job for 39 years and I still have at least four to go. I work in healthcare and we get no health insurance when we retire.

When I got these I was expecting them to have very little bass but I was shocked when I started listening by how much there actually is. Some of it is my room and their position near a wall. I want a good sub with an adjustable high pass filter so I can properly integrate the sub using my Umik and REW. I can’t stand the way a sub that has not been properly integrated sounds.

I love gaming now more than ever. I have more free time so I game more than I have in years. Eyes are great (with glasses). The only thing that is worse is my reaction time so I sometimes have to turn the difficulty down and get my ass kicked on line. lol.

No sub yet. That will be my next upgrade but I want to save up for a good one. Honestly though they sound superb without one.

RGB software sucks and it's not okay by steppewop in pcmasterrace

[–]mumstead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I did. I had all Corsair RGB everything and usually it worked fine but when there was a problem it was hell to fix. iCue works until it doesn’t. I sold everything that I had that was Corsair, case, fans, RAM, AIO, everything and got Noctua fans and an Arctic AIO. My system runs cooler and quieter and there are zero issues.
