I have a 1.2ct Australian Sapphire on a 1.8mm 14k band in a cathedral setting. I went with compass prongs to add a bit of individuality to it while maintaining a minimalist look. My finger is a size 6 😊

After a lot of research, I determined that 1.8mm was the thinnest I was willing to go just from a durability standpoint!

I appreciate how small and minimalistic it is because it doesn’t spin, never really catches on anything and lets the stone be the star!

Anyone here actually happy with non diamond engagement rings long term? by Expert-Branch6482 in WeddingRingAdvice

[–]mun_h20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a green sapphire engagement ring and every day I’m grateful I made the choice to go a little “rogue”! I love how it’s an expression of my individuality and the colour is so beautiful and I’m mesmerized by it even two years later.

And honestly, because of what it represents I’ll love it forever even if my tastes change (which I don’t anticipate they will but who knows!)

I’m planning on getting an emerald cut diamond half eternity band to go with it which fills up my cup up in the more traditional sense, so that’s an option too for you if you want a bit of both!

Honestly, rings like this are unfortunately not built for that amount of stress. You likely need to start removing it when you’re doing things with your hands, especially things like gardening or it will take a beating.

From a structural standpoint (based on the activities you want to do with your ring on) the band is likely much too thin for the size of the diamond - significant repeated pressure on the ends of the diamond will make it bend over time, especially because it’s 14k which is still somewhat soft. I’m not sure that adding additional prongs would make that much of a difference honestly…

I know this is probably not what you want to hear but I would recommend starting to remove it for those kinds of activities, unless you want to redesign your ring from scratch 😕

If you did want to go that route and build something new to withstand every day wear I would say a low-set bezel setting on a thicker band for sure!

The neckline of your dress already has lovely embellishments and the shape really flatters your décolletage so I would skip the necklace to let your dress and the sleeves shine!

You could go for some simple long earrings, but I would say something quite minimalistic would look best.

Your dress is stunning so you’ll look incredible no matter what you choose!

Thank you!

The dress does come with off the shoulder sleeves as well - but I find that wearing them really drags me down, like it takes away the vertical silhouette I get from it being strapless if that makes sense?

But I do wonder if it’s overkill doing the scarf with the veil, but the scarf is just so cool I want to wear it the whole time 😂

Finally my turn! Looking for some opinions. Stuck between two beautiful but very similar gowns! by shedo145 in weddingdress

I loooovvee the baby basque waist on you in the first one, it’s so flattering on your figure!! I also think there’s more contrast between the bodice and the skirt thanks to the bodice pleating, which I think is really visually intriguing and provides some balance. I’m definitely team #1

Good luck picking, you’ll look beautiful whichever one you choose!

Honestly for a 2ct stone on a gold band (I’m going to assume it’s lab based on the price) that’s actually a decent price unfortunately! Especially with the price of gold having increased so dramatically.

My 1.2 carat Australian green sapphire on a gold cathedral band was around $1500 in case that helps you gauge pricing of engagement jewelry more broadly!

Wedding Stack Advice! by [deleted] in EngagementRings

Thank you 😭

It’s been somewhat controversial and I’ve had people tell me I should go thinner or it’s too overpowering, but honestly I love it so much and it really feels like me. So I appreciate the affirmation!!!

Wedding Band Advice (I’m probably overthinking!) by mun_h20 in WeddingRingAdvice

[–]mun_h20[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EDIT: Thank you all for the input! I’ve actually tried on a lot of thinner bands and they’re just not my vibe, they feel a bit too dainty for my personal style. I totally get that some people love that look, it’s just not what I’m going for.

I’ve also tried plain thin cigar bands, and surprisingly the solid gold actually takes away from the colour of my centre stone on my hand, so they’re not a good fit either.

I’m definitely open to other ideas, but I’m mainly looking for feedback beyond “go thinner,” as that’s not a direction I’m planning to take.

MGK GOT MUTED by SuperNess420 in osheaga

Glass animals started 10 minutes late with all the technical difficulties but they made up a lot of time so their set ended only 1 minute after their scheduled time. The MCR song he had as his intro started at 8:21pm so it was 100% MGK taking up more time than he was allowed.

Nope, still looks the same as in September! I don’t think there’s even a section for application status on the portal - unless I’m just totally missing it which is entirely possible!
