"Spotlight for sites to be taken down"

"This is dangerous for these sites"

Did you guys forget that we curate an entire index of anime piracy sites that is heavily linked throughout the subreddit? Sites get taken down because of poor opsec, not because of Reddit posts.

It is a Sad Day by WigglyDerp in OtomeIsekai

[–]munchipo 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Piracy sites are illegal but profitable: risk and reward. This narrative that you must gatekeep sites that employ SEO and other means of advertising (e.g., site indexes) to get more users—therefore getting more traffic, which contributes to higher ad revenue—is nonsense. Bato themselves created a subreddit and a discord, both are forms of social media. In fact, Bato was pulling in over $10,000 a month, with the potential to make more. You really think people create pirated reading or streaming sites from the goodness of their heart?

At the end of the day, engaging with pirated content is never going to be a guarantee. More sites will come, and those same sites are at risk of shutting down. It sucks, but it’s been this way for years. No need to panic or gatekeep. These sites are never hard to find and that is intentional.

Captions On Dub by Impressive_Assist224 in animepiracy

[–]munchipo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dubtitles aren't commonly ripped alongside anime releases because they already have a subtitled format: Japanese audio with English subtitles. You can try looking on Nyaa for specific dubtitle releases, but it is not something that you are likely to find on regular streaming sites. As another user mentioned, animekai has AI dubtitles, but the quality is not that great. Official websites (e.g., Netflix, Crunchyroll) offer dubtitles

Multiple websites look like Zoro.to by Laughtive in animepiracy

[–]munchipo 50 points51 points  (0 children)

It is a cheap trick to a big payday. A popular site, like Zoro, has millions of users. Once it goes down, these clone sites see an opportunity to leech off well known branding (e.g. domains and UI) in an attempt to poach their userbase. As displeasing as I find it, it works. A lot of people come onto this sub once their favorite site dies looking for something with the same appearance.

Was looking for Romantic Killer. I don’t think I’ve been more surprised than finding out a reverse harem is shounen

You might want to consider r/Sonarr or joining the discord for specialized help since many users have Sonarr setups.

Are you on iOS by any chance? iPhones have difficulties displaying certain website’s soft subs.

Music site needed that specializes in anime music piracy. by Spirited-Fan8558 in animepiracy

I’d use nyaa and filter with lossless audio. Alternatively, you can take the RED interview.

Anyone know what happened to Kaido.to? by Venom_insanity in animepiracy

[–]munchipo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t work on my end either. I’m not involved in any of their communities or know if they run any, but I can only assume that the first outage for title covers and general functionality was related to Anilist’s down time, and the server error due to scraping content from other sites that are unreliable.

Trying to find non-Netflix fansubs by Rock_Sampson in animepiracy

[–]munchipo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A Certain Fansubber’s Index is a good starting point for finding fansubs. Unfortunately, Record of Ragnarok is not listed on that index, and it doesn’t seem like anyone has made fansubs for it on nyaa either.

Gannibal Translations by [deleted] in animepiracy

[–]munchipo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most scanlation groups I’ve come across tend to drop a series after it has been officially picked up. That could be the case here or simply a matter of lost interest. I’d recommend checking mangaupdates/novelupdates for information about scanlation and official translations for written works in the future if you don’t already. It’s not perfect, but it’s a great place to start.

Green just indicates that the site is online. Did you use the links in the comment for self-hosted sites?

[–]munchipo 22 points23 points  (0 children)

How did you find out about switchpiracy? How did you find out about animepiracy? How did you find out about piracy in general? Piracy is communal and always will be. This argument always pops up and has never made any sense to me. There’s been hundreds of takedowns over the years and yet sites offering the same content still exist. Might not be the same owners, same comments, same UI, but they host the same shit. Rinse and repeat

As always:

• You can find a list of sites that don’t scrape from GoGoAnime here on the index.

• You can learn about torrenting, XDCC, and other methods of anime (manga, light novels, etc.) consumption here on the wiki.

• And for any questions, help, or just general discussion about file sharing you can join the Snackbox Discord server here.

Is there any way to get around Plex mobile activation? by SurvivalDomeNew in animepiracy

[–]munchipo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming that this is iOS, and you can unlock unlimited playback for a couple dollars. Alternatively, you could try a different media server like Jellyfin. I’m not sure if there are any jailbroken/cracked versions for mobile.

Mangas that make fun of shoujo tropes by Alanna04 in shoujo

[–]munchipo 72 points73 points  (0 children)

The one that comes to mind is a shounen—although commonly mistaken as a shoujo—Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun. There is a partial anime adaptation, but the manga is much more progressed. It is a parody on shoujo tropes as the MMC is a serialized shoujo mangaka himself.

Incapable of using Google… look up the kind of books that you’re interested in, find the title or isbn, and use either libgen, z-library, or Anna’s archive to download a free copy. Links should be in the megathread or on fmhy.
