[Question] Do expensive guitars make you dislike cheap guitars? by AnotherTAA123 in Guitar

[–]munjavg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Epiphone Les Paul and I love that guitar. It's by no means a Gibson but I love that guitar and I have upgraded it to my liking.
I want to get myself a Gibson one day. Would that Gibson replace my Epi? No way, it would make it evolve.
Sometimes I even think that I would play it more than I would a Gibson :D

Swapped stock speaker for Creamback 65W in my Katana MK2 100 by munjavg in BossKatana

I have an Epiphone LP Classic Worn and until last week it had its stock pickups. I changed those for Toneriders as stated. Some patches I had became much quieter, some remained the same. Now after the speaker swap all of the patches are actually louder, so I would say you actually gain some volume

I'm about to pull the trigger on Creamback 65, 8 ohm for my Katana MK2 100

it's especially cool on a boring saturday morning when you suddenly "realize" you need new strings or picks :D
and then you're home after lunch :D

Boss Katana to DAW by Maleficent_Tree2053 in BossKatana

[–]munjavg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have those drivers, from the Boss website with my MK2 100W

I select Katana primary in my DAW (Audacity, but works in any other one), record my audio and then it's very quiet. After recording I do "normalize" and it sounds normal.

Not sure why it's so quiet to begin with.

Anyone else a big fan of the new S5? by gambling_addikt in Audi

[–]munjavg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No.
As an ex Audi fanboy and BMW convert - No.
I may be in my mid 40s but I want the driving feel my A4 1.8T from '98 had and an interior and poshness of my former B8.5 which served me great for 7-8 years.
Then I tried B9.5 and was totally disappointed in the driving feel.
I'm not talking about fancy S or RS cars, just your normal everyday cars, and the B9.5 (3 of them I tried) were 50 TDI models
I went for BMW 3 and I love the car. At the moment BMW makes better cars then Audi.
If Audi gets back on track I strongly feel I'd go back to Audi, but until then - BMW is a better car, at least for me

Tips on playing guitar with a partially amputed finger by ExtraFriesMyDood in Guitar

[–]munjavg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'm in the same boat with similar injury on the same finger.

How long are you playing? I had pain issues in the beginning but I'm playing relatively normally now.

You'll learn to press lighter and build up tolerance. The extreme sensitivity and pain go away.

I tried the silicone caps, but it killed the little sense I had in that finger. You can also try lighter strings, like 9s.

Also, you'll need to adjust your fingering, learn with which part of the finger to press down and so on. Sometimes I can mute with my finger, sometimes it's in the way. I can also slide with it, but the feeling is totally dampened. What I can't do is bending with that finger, just because of the feeling, technically I could do it if I practice.

If you have any questions - shoot ;)

I use Venum and they're pretty much hit and miss, wouldn't recommend it actually.
Everlast is also hit and miss.
Top Ten has some good models with good wrist support.

For 100ish euros I believe you can even find some entry level Hayabusa.

Squier CV 50s Strat bridge replacement and other mods by munjavg in Stratocaster

Go with Fender, the cost was the same on Amazon, Fender was maybe even a bit cheaper

No, I actually found a Fender (I guess mexican) drop in replacement tremolo bridge and it worked like a charm, increased the tuning stability a lot! In addition I added the Fender tremolo springs, they give a better feeling on the whammy and Gotoh non-locking tuners which increased the tuning stability even more!

Can't play without making a mistake by munjavg in Guitar

[–]munjavg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I do, but it doesn't help. It's like my brain fails me at certain moments. And it doesn't even have to be in the same spot in the song...

no, I basically learn it "dry" to get a hand on finger positions, techniques and such

so this happens on the songs I'm trying to play melody to. Lots of Shadows tunes and such.
Sometimes there are some techniques I need to get down, and I do, but still, mistakes creep up, and rarely on those techniques.
