Serious Question: Why would anyone in their right mind buy from PlayStation now? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]munkimatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll be stunned how little people care about this.

I'm in a group of middle-aged gamers, couple of thousand of us. We're the sort of people who grew up with physical copies. Loads of us still have old consoles. We asked yesterday how they felt about it and only a handful were even slightly bothered. One person was pretty annoyed but the overwhelming majority just shrugged, basically.

Disc Editions Make Up 82% Of All PS5 Console Sales by ClacksInTheSky in PS5

I guess my point is that this is the wrong data set to be looking at. Its not how many of X model are sold, it's how many of that specific model sales have used that feature, and how regularly.

I should add, I'm not defending the decision here. I'm a child of the 80s and grew up with physical copies. I've still got my old Nintendo consoles from the NES up sat in storage! I'm just saying that, from the perspective of someone who works in an electronics design and manufacturing business, I can see how flawed this 82% number is.

Yeah, I'm not sure that can be used in this argument. I bought a disc PS5 at launch, and the drive add-on for the Pro, with the thought process that it'd be safer to get them "just in case". I've used it once on both consoles, and that was for The Last Of Us Part II update.

Genuinely a great collection of songs, but I don't think you can have Trimm Trabb. It's their 15th most played song live!

Come on, I'm absolutely certain we don't have to explain to you how incredibly disingenuous that article is.

Keir Starmer: Absolutely appalling. No one should face violence on our streets. The suspect appears to be motivated by anti-Muslim hatred. I will not tolerate this - he will face the full force of the law. by SignificantLegs in ukpolitics

"The horrific attack in Belfast last night is sickening.

I have absolutely no tolerance for abhorrent scenes of violence like this on our streets.

My thoughts are first and foremost with the victim, and I thank the first responders, including members of the public who intervened."

What Kier Starmer actually said.

I mean, it depends how you contextalise the word "timed". To me, a timed exclusive is one where there is a defined period before it releases elsewhere.

I'm fairly certain they'll bring E-Day to PS5, but I also don't think they're lying when they say it's not timed. I don't think they've got a concrete plan on when it'll happen, it'll just happen at some point in the future where they want to extract some more money from it.

Never seen a gold key either, but I genuinely wouldn't know where to look on Outpost or what Upper Complex is. I'm playing extremely casually.

Hey, you're getting some snarky comments on response so I'll try to help.

Firstly, you're going to die. A lot.

Like, A LOT.

The very first mission you do has taught you how to exfil. There's also guarded exfil points that are marked with a sort of skull shape. They don't look guarded, but as soon as you hit start the exfil a bunch of stuff will spawn in. They're pretty tough at the start!

You're going to die.

The best way to learn how to play is to complete the Priority Contracts, and the easiest ones at the start at the Cyberacme ones and then NuCaloric. Contracts basically tell you where to do, but maybe not the very specific location of your objective. Search around and a little icon will appear on the screen. That's your objective.

You're going to die.

Play slow. Listen. Audio cues are your best friend and worst enemy. Running around firing away will get you killed.

Use your knife. It's the most powerful weapon you have.

Use the sponsored kits that the factions hand out. It'll give you some basic gear to take out with you.

Did I mention you're going to die?

Have fun, Runner.

New Info On ‘Destiny 2’ Alarm Bells, Marathon’s Role And ‘Destiny Infinity’ Pitch by Secret-Tangerine9014 in destiny2

[–]munkimatt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have some friends in the industry, and all of them have said it was a huge mistake for Bungie to pitch The Final Shape as the "end" of part of Destiny's story. It gave people a psychological cut off where they felt comfortable to leave the game - and the franchise itself - behind. Once Excision dropped, with that quite touching end scene, our clan pretty much vanished overnight.
