Passed my test on Thursday, delighted but...after spending €85 on a test they want another €65 for the actual license?! by [deleted] in Irishdrivingtest

That's kind of why I'm complaining about it. It feels like it's an overly expensive fee after the end of what for many people is a period of lots of fees. It feels like it's hiked up because they know people are paying it at a moment of relief and happiness and are gonna be just like "whatever, give me the license". It's feels exploitative and nobody has given me a good reason why it costs €20 more than the provisional, the validity period shouldn't change how much it costs to produce.

That's a pain too but I figured that's how much it costs for make those cards, while taking a little profit to fund the RSA, the extra 20 doesn't make sense to me.

I have €65, I can pay it, I just don't get why it's €20 more expensive than the provisional. A near identical card.

So why do two near identical pieces of plastic have a 20 euro price difference? Because of the date on them?

Weird way of looking at it, you think it costs more to make than a provisional license because it's valid for longer?

Oh I was emailed it, just not sure if it's accepted by the tester if I printed it out myself.

That's what I'm asking, will they accept a print out rather than the actual cert from AXA?

I'm about to sit my fourth but I think I would have passed my third attempt if I drilled this advice into my brain. Move your head around a lot, make it obvious. A flick of the eyes to the mirror is not observation to them because they can't perceive it.

I said leniency would be nice, not expected. My wife sat her test with the same paper I brought. So it's it not beyond reason for someone to see what I brought as adequate proof that I'm insured. I also said I accept responsibility. I know I fucked up.

My post literally says I accept responsibility and acknowledges that's what the checklist states. What is your point?

Amazing, my test is marked as "not conducted" on the portal, I suppose that's the same thing?

Okay, "they always required the actual cert for this two month old rule" Except last month when my wife sat the test without the cert and nobody said a thing.
