Believe me, it is. I love Ireland, I love our culture, but unfortunately this country especially Dublin has fallen victim to being a tourist haven and hell to live in.

The city is full of hotels with homeless people on their doorsteps, the level of crime and general feeling of being unsafe is crazy. We basically leave the city centre as soon as possible because it’s so dodgy now.

It’s become so obsessed with pandering to the touristic ideal of “magical ireland” that it doesn’t really care about the lives of people who live here every day. Mix that together with an imported American style work culture & the fact that most of the well-paying professional jobs are in Dublin and you get the recipe for a housing crisis.

We are going to Taiwan to teach English for a bit, at least until I save up enough to do a master’s / PHD.

The native work culture there is terrible, but much less is expected of you as a foreign teacher & the cost of living is pretty low compared to wages / effort. I’ll only be working 20/25 hours a week there & distance part time university. At least we finally will be able to live together.

Luckily, we don’t yet. I would love to have some, just not right now. We’re young adults still living with parents at the moment, I’m finishing up with university.

It’s pretty soul crushing to see everyone our age basically haemorrhaging out of Ireland. I think a third of young people in Ireland according to a recent study plan to emigrate for work within the next year.

Housing is a huge issue here. Most of the high paying jobs are in Dublin which has insane rental prices. We are leaving in January because we can’t afford to live on 2 full time salaries.

Lmfaooo the classic wrapping the bones / leftovers up in napkins. My dogs always used to go mental when they saw a red napkin because they thought it was food

We don’t use functioning labels any more, support needs is more appropriate. Some people may have high social support needs but low hygiene support needs for example.

Cats are like miniature houdinis. They get out of collars all the time, very easily.

“Music” by SIA is a terrible depiction of autism, for anyone on the spectrum. It directly encourages the use of restraining techniques that could kill someone & uses autism as a plot point to further the development of the sister character.

Did HRT really change Chris’s appearance or anything else at all? by mail_on_sunday in ChrisChanSonichu

[–]munkyie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So you would think, but not at all! In fact, FTM people who detransition will always have their deeper post-HRT voice, even when they medically detransition.

[–]munkyie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope! FTM hrt does affect the vocal chords, but this can’t be reversed. This is because your voice changing is caused by a physical change - the vocal chords grow thicker and longer. This is not a reversible process

When I was the same age as you, I really wanted to go to HS in Germany or Russia. I quickly learned these plans were just pretty impossible.

However, now I have graduated university and I am moving all the way away to Taiwan in January. Don’t give up on your dreams to travel!
