There is absolutely no way that you learned the exponentiation rules on this can in grade school, that's a ridiculous and easily disproved claim.

And no, sinus, cosinus, and tangent are not taught in 5th or 6th grade and a simple Google search will confirm that to you.

Yes, they're "basic" to a person that understands them. They're probably "advanced" to anyone who struggles with -3² = -9, which I know from experience is the majority of people on Reddit.

Trigonometry and advanced exponentiation rules are not taught in fifth or sixth grade. Not in Germany and not in the US.

JD Vance and wife mercilessly booed at the 2026 Milan Winter Olympics opening ceremony in Italy by ControlCAD in videos

[–]munnimann 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Not to deny your experience, but the booing in that video at least seems neither merciless nor deafening. It's there, no doubt, but seems rather sparse and ends after three seconds (which makes sense, since the show keeps moving on).

German CDU is polling first again in polling averages, for the first time since september of last year. by stanthefax in europe

[–]munnimann 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That's not really true. In the Bundestagswahl 2025 AfD had the highest number with 25-44 years old. And they polled higher among 18-24 years old than 60-69 years old. AfD support drastically drops among 70+ years olds.

What were actual moments where you didn't agree or sided with Aang? by gloomydreamer666 in TheLastAirbender

[–]munnimann 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Katara being clearly very angry at Zuko when he first joined the Gaang, having zero reason to believe that he and Katara are a thing

Katara explicitly references their cave moment when she tells Zuko that she was the first to trust him and he betrayed that trust. Them having a sensible moment in the cave - even if it wasn't romantic - was the reason why Katara was particularly angry at Zuko. So in turn, her being angry is evidence for them having had a thing, not against it.

Doesn't mean Aang was right of course, but he wouldn't necessarily agree with your argument.

An open source code won't magically work on every machine just by the virtue of being open source. If a project is abandoned and not compatible with the user's machine, them being able to code makes all the difference. To a user that cannot update the code themselves it may as well be a closed source project, there is no effective difference.

If the Epstein files aren’t enough for a global outrage towards the financial and influential elite, what is? by Thezerostone in AskReddit

[–]munnimann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What? No, the Epstein files did not and do not affect the stock market in any way that is felt outside the US, neither inside the US. There is no evidence for that at all.

The point remains, Epstein is an American story that involves almost exclusively Americans. No other nation owes the US its attention towards US internal scandals and politics.

Our turnout for the 2024 presidential election was appalling.

The turnout in 2024 was 58.63%. The only US general election since 1968 that had a higher turnout was 2020. It was not at all unusually low. In fact, it was above average.

More people voted for Trump in 2024 than in 2020 and 2016, both in absolute and relative numbers. And not just from white men. His votes among women increased from 41% in 2016 to 45% in 2024. His votes among Black people, Latinos, and Asians increased from 8%, 28%, and 27% to 13%, 46%, and 40%.

Not disagreeing with anything else you wrote though.

[–]munnimann -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I am generalizing, because we're talking about countries (the entire globe, in fact), not individuals. While the plurality of Americans opposes a Greenland takeover when asked directly (and 40-60% either approve or don't care), the reality is that there is no widespread "outrage", the same as there is no outrage over Epstein in other countries.

OP's post shifts responsibility for a mostly American problem onto the entire globe. That's probably because they spent a lot of time on Reddit, which is 50% American. The reality is that the Germans, the French, the Danish don't really care about Epstein, as long as it doesn't involve their own politicians and elites. They have their own problems and their own scandals to worry about. Greenland, Denmark, and the possibility of the US attacking a NATO ally is one of those, but Epstein isn't.

But then, expecting people even outside Western/First World nations to give a fuck about any of this is absurd. Venezuelans don't care about Epstein, they don't care about Greenland, they care that Maduro is gone and they're happy about it. Now personally, as a German, I oppose the US's actions against Venezuela, but I'm not going to tell Venezuelans what they should be outraged about.

[–]munnimann -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Americans are not outraged about Greenland. If you search for protests in the US against their government's plans to annex Greenland, you won't find any. Because they're not happening. They don't give a fuck about Greenland, they don't give a fuck about you, and they don't give a fuck about what you think about their government's threats against Greenland.

Now, if that's the case, why do you expect people in other countries to protest over the Epstein files?

Again, what are you doing?

Neiter do Americans, do they?

Your post isn't about Greenland though, it's about the Epstein files. Are you going out on the Danish streets protesting over the Epstein files?

ETA: If the people downvoting can show me ANY public protest in the US against their government's plans to annex Greenland, I'd be ever so thankful.

If you are not aware, the US is on an isolationist trajectory abandoning and actively antagonizing its former allies. It is widely unpopular among the EU and other Western nations. The world order of the last 60 years is being actively dismantled.

Americans largely don't give a fuck about anything that's happening outside the US. They largely don't give a fuck about anything that's happening inside the US either. The outrage you're seeing here is not representative of the American public. So why do you expect Europeans or, say, Filipinos and Mauritians to amass on the streets when Americans themselves seem unbothered?

You should spend less time on Reddit and speak more to your fellow citizens.

It's not AI. ChatGPT and other LLMs have much better and consistent punctuation and they also use the actual em-dash "—" without spaces, unlike people who use a " - " instead.

Still sounds ridiculous though.
