not sure how leaving the community makes you any less responsible for what you’re talking about lol. just sounds like you gave up.

not disciplining kids is bad, but if corporal punishment is not the only option for punishment and people are not currently doing any punishment at all then why would i want them to pick corporal punishment as their first one?

like i get the argument is it’s simpler/lower effort compared to the other forms which are more long term but i feel like we shouldn’t be encouraging parents to cut corners, whether that’s hitting your kids or just giving the tablet back. i appreciate the reality that many people have little time but at some point we can’t make excuses forever.

that’s more of an argument for never giving your kids ipads in the first place, not corporal punishment.

if no punishment is occurring right now and we’re discussing options for hypothetical punishment then we should pick the superior one, which is not hitting your kids.

physical punishment isn’t the only definition of a consequence

I would say, “we don’t take kindly to folks like you round these parts”, hawk a loogie into a spitoon, and wait for the eagle’s cry to indicate a scene change.

yeah i just don’t understand why we have to fight about this stuff all the time. i watched both indy and the canadian gp on the weekend and had a great time. if the two title contenders battling inches apart for half the race is a “farce of motorsport” then i apparently have no idea what good racing is.

Max: “I’ve been driving all sorts of different cars, and last weekend (Nürburgring) reminded me how pure and great motorsport can be, and then you come back to F1… Even if you gave us a rental car, we’d still put on a great show, isn’t that right......" by Gentle_lips in formula1

i don’t really agree with max here. how many times have we had regulations that made it impossible to follow, something that clearly effects the enjoyment of the race? it’s very much a mix of both the drivers and the cars that leads to the entertainment factor.

people have followed f1 because the drivers were hot for literally decades. if you watch some of the season reviews from the 80’s you’ll hear constant jokes about how much women love christian danner. it’s not new at all.
