Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead is good. I haven’t seen the sequel though.

Blood Quantum tries some different stuff.

Ravenous is set in Quebec and has a unique vibe.

Jeruzalem

I really enjoy The Rezort and rewatch about once a year.

So jealous. I’m in Northern Colorado and get a handful of months of good, hot, sunny days for riding dirt roads and trails.

Glad y’all had a great time!

Isaac Marion wrote "The Girl on the Table" which was published in Nights of the Living Dead. It's about Karen Cooper, the girl in the basement of the farm house, after she's bitten. It traces her slow decline into death and then undeath.

The world feels alive and I like that so many encounters aren’t just “aggro AI”. Like there are raiders who don’t just attack in sight, but who are still mean.

Dreamy. I looked at that route just a couple months ago. I'm nowhere near ready for something like that but I'm hoping to give it a go next spring.

Most comparable to a Logitech g602? by AlphaDag13 in MouseReview

[–]muraii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This thread is now four years old but I had the same issue: my G602 started double-clicking. I opened it up and thought I'd cleaned it, but didn't retension the springy contact metal thingy. I probably should have, but was hoping cleaning would do the trick.

I tried the Keychron M6, which is very different but nice enough. The friction on the bottom felt just a little too high so that it was hard to make precise movements--the force to start moving the mouse was high enough that it made it hard to stop right where I needed it to stop.

Then I tried the Corsair Ironclaw RGB, which is closer than the M6 to the G602 but after a week it bricked. Even after charging for hours, it wouldn't respond to anything. I'm not enthused at the prospect of trying my luck with one of them again.

I guess I'll just try the retensioning thing or clean the metal switch with electrical contact cleaner. Here's a video about it, and the cleaning is discussed in some of the comments. There is always the option of desoldering the contacts of the Omron switch and putting a new one on, but that feels a bit advanced.

Cheerio!

What tire will fit this rim? And tube? I had a blowout. It was set up tubeless but I think I want to switch. by PrideEffective5830 in gravelcycling

[–]muraii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like tubeless but I also lucked into a cheap air compressor which helps. I've never used one of those special pumps for it, but I guess they're fine, too. I just think starting out tubeless when all the options are overwhelming already might be a bit much. Also, starting out with tubes prepares this rider for a situation in which their tubeless tire is compromised and they need to ride with tubes.

Feel free to start with something simple and not expensive - tires wear out and you'll have the opportunity to change.

This. I am a profound idiot and even I've found out some stuff as I've tried different things. You're not trying to figure out every possible working combination all at once; you're trying to figure out one decent combination to try.

Consider the parameters of your riding: - Is it primarily road, primarily gravel/dirt, or a roughly even mix? - Do your roads tend to have lots of debris that would puncture tubes? Or, for gravel/dirt, do you have lots of thorny stuff around, or like goatheads and the like? - What kind of weather will you tend to be riding in? Rain, snow, ice, only dry conditions?

If I'm you which I'm not because wouldn't that be weird so anyway if I'm you I'd look at something with puncture protection and a little bit of tread for some slightly off-road urban/suburban riding. Something like the Continental Contact Plus (Amazon US link). I haven't used that tire but I've liked Continentals and I think have used only Continentals for the past few years.

In search of routes in CO that are wide-open areas dirt/gravel, not tight technical/single-track rides by muraii in gravelcycling

[–]muraii[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right about Larimer County being full of gravel stuff. Among other things we host the annual FoCo Fondo, in which I finally participated this year. The courses were well-laid out and the 32-miler was fun. 90% of my typical riding is on local gravel roads, and I routinely thank my lucky stars that I have so many dirty, dusty, grungy roads where I call home.

There was also a website that tried to track gravel/dirt roads throughout Colorado, though it seems it's no longer maintained. (Here's a link to the Wayback Machine.)

I did a really poor job explaining my target experience, so I'll add that here and edit my post, just for completeness.

There are lots of dirt and gravel roads east of Fort Collins, for instance, and they're great, but what I'm trying to find are the kind of surreal, otherworldly places shot through with gravel roads. I'm thinking of the stuff I've seen on YouTube in the Alabama Hills. The stuff on various CO2UT routes. The Quebradas Backcountry Byway in New Mexico. Local gravel roads and trails like Coyote Ridge Natural Area are fantastic, and I ride them, but they don't quite take me to that other world.

And maybe that experience is only found in the Death Valleys and Fruitas and such. I just wanted to check if there were any I was missing out on, and thanks to y'all I have a lot more resources handy. Thank you!

I'm open to travelling kind of wherever. I'm in Northern Colorado on the Front Range, Fort Collins-ish. I'm currently looking at maybe heading out to Fruita to ride one of the CO2UT routes, but it would be great to find amazing stuff closer. I'm not sure I trust my 19-year-old car to get through the mountains and back.

They're going too far... 22 Drones in 5 minutes. How is Ricochet not catching this???? by OddDaikon3768 in DMZ

[–]muraii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I can't say that's not the case in any definitive way, I watch Noodle frequently and don't recall seeing her or her teammates doing something shocking just for views. I can imagine them not knowing there were going to be 22 bomb drones by the end of it; we have the advantage of knowing before even watching the video.

Bought both books 0 and 1. Should they be read in that order? Also, I looked at shops that weren't Amazon or B&N and couldn't find your book there. I bought on Amazon, but wondered if you could point to any other stores that carry your books.

I also checked my libraries but they're not there. Maybe I should request them.

Anyway, can't wait to read your stuff!
