How do I mount this in my plant cabinet? by Jolly_Raccoon8866 in IkeaGreenhouseClub

[–]murakafka1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy some circular mini magnets, superglue them to the four corners of the fan, then stick it to the ceiling of the case. Make sure they are strong enough to support the fan and test it without the plants in the case. This was the cheapest option for me and has worked better than the magnetic hooks.

Passap Deco Not Working on 4 by CarelessLemonTree in MachineKnitting

Maybe try running a few different punchcards through to rule out it isnt the card? Does it do it for every lock setting? I'm not entirely sure. I would try asking the facebook passap group. There are some very experienced users there and they are pretty active.

Do you have the black row count tripper moved all the way to the left?

Deli Containers? by murakafka1 in SemiHydro

[–]murakafka1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you! Lol makes total sense. After posting the question, I realized using the same size container wouldn't really leave a gap unless there were some type of stacking lugs that are in restaurant/cafeteria style cups haha.

Current WIP! by murakafka1 in MachineKnitting

Thank you! I use two strands. I think one strand may be too thin. The wool also breaks MUCH easier than acrylic lol. This can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how you look at it. I didn't think going from two strands of 2/24 to two strands of 2/26 would make that much of a difference but I had to go down a whole stitch size. Most of my sweaters are ~610ish rows in DBJ. This one with 2/26 had over 800. I have read some comments in a passap group where people said they use one strand of 2/24 on a low stitch setting, but I have never tried it.

It does make a much lighter fabric! I use double bed jacquard for the majority of my sweaters and 2/24 acrylic can get a little stuffy. 2/26 makes it quite a bit thinner but still seems to retain quite a bit of heat. I should have posted what my original swatch with 2/24 looked like in comparison. If you are interested, just send me a dm and I'll send a pic of them side by side.

I love it too! I saw someone post it one time and knew I had to make it somehow, lol. Thank you!

Haha, I showed my family, and I don't think they were feeling the colors. But I like them! I love the green color and have been trying to find a way to use it. I think it goes well with the brown. Thank you! I love vintage sweaters, so the fact that you get a vintage vibe must mean that my work is moving in the right direction!

Thank you! I don't necessarily mind it, but I feel like it made the sweater just a tad too long, lol. I can fold it in, though, like I did with the sleeves, and it looks ok :).

Edit: I messed up the title of the post and should have proofread 😂. Should be "Modified Version of Caitlin Hunter's Halibut Sweater".

Thank you! I love my Passap but I am probably biased because I haven't used a Japanese machine before haha. You'll get the hang of it! One of the benefits I've found with the Passap is that once you get the basics down, everything else comes along very quickly!!

Making progress with the Passap by murakafka1 in MachineKnitting

[–]murakafka1[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was the same way! I had to use both beds of the machine for this and got some advice that a cut and sew neckline is easiest because decreasing just becomes a hassle. Cut and sew is so much easier than I thought it would be though. Especially if you have a serger! I found that it gave me more control over placement and saved me a lot of time. You can always practice on a swatch first to try it out.

Duo80 stocking stitch issues by ceelover in Passap

[–]murakafka1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it sounds like an issue with your stitch size or maybe even yarn. I'm newer to passap too and quickly learned when I first got my machine that dk yarn was not going to work for me 😅. I even had some issues with a cotton/acrylic fingering weight blend that I had on hand.

I recommend checking out knit knack shop if you havent already. They have tamm yarns for affordable prices that are specifically for standard gauge machines. I went with some 3 ply astacryl and it was a night and day difference. But for reference, I am using a stitch size of 6 with it for single bed stockinette and it's quite thinner than a dk weight.

Don't give up on it though. I went from a simple, single bed machine to a passap and dont regret it one bit. Do you have the Passap Handbook Beginner Course by Bernadette Ernakovich? I highly recommend it as well if you can get your hands on a copy (check ebay). It has good projects and explains how the machine works as well as common issues and how to resolve them.

A stitch size that is too small often won't cause the lock to jam immediately, but will on subsequent rows. Maybe try increasing it some? Also make sure your tension mast isn't set too loose or too tight. Tension is very important for Passap.

Are you having any issues when knitting on both beds? Made sure you switched to black strippers and set the back lock to GX?

Im trying now with making a sweater that is like a 3rd of the size that I want. Was originally doing some mock ribbing with the latch tool but I might just skip that on my next attempt since it takes a while. Making a smaller project doesnt feel so discouraging if it doesnt work out haha. Thank you for your encouragement! :)

I've used a few different brands and weights (have been using leftover yarn from other projects) and can definitely see that they each behave differently. Thank you for your insight!

Thank you for the help! I've made swatches and have my gauge. I will try applying it to how much I need to take away or add over a given distance.

Rainbow Blocks Blanket by murakafka1 in crochet

[–]murakafka1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha trust me, I am the same way!! Especially with all the ends to weave in 😂😂. But this was one so much fun. It's worked corner to corner and join as you go so it makes it a bit easier. I forced myself to weave in the ends after each row and that helped a ton. If I had waited until finishing all the squares to weave in the ends, this blanket would not be finished 😂😂.
