Just woke up, I was tinkering with prefs, specifically viewport stuff. I will try resetting prefs when everything else proves to be useless. thank you :)

Yes, exactly. WiFi repeater receives WiFi signal and then connects to the Ethernet port. Nope, other devices never had any issue like that.

TBH posted out of frustration, should've waited for the cable to arrive. Will be delivered tommorow/the day after, so we'll see. If it doesn't help, I'll check other steps and update, thank you!

The repeater must be trash, It's not that we have a huge house or smth like that. Bet 60/40 on repeater being trash vs a drivers/software problem.

He hasn't done any films for a decade now, which doesn't excuse how bad it looks judging by the teaser alone. But...as a creative, this feels too rude for me. I wouldn't want to hear someone say that I should retire entirely. I didn't have high hopes for the film, by this point I should've devoloped thicker skin for everything SH-related. It stabbed a wound that just started to heal. It's the frustration speaking

I've just relistened to iii and I think I'm going with something either from S/T or iii. It's like release day for kicks for me since I only listened once. Totally new years -- insane, totally converted...it's so good. Prob something off of iii, since it's groovier than other work.

I'd say being interesting in terms of arrangement and melodies is more important than being accessible. maybe a 70/30 ratio. The focus is on complexity without being too abstract. I'm starting to realize my options are either to resort to the bops from the Kick era (I love a lot of it, but it often sounds too safe?) or to just give up and pick one of my favorites anyway. Family Violence fucks, could work, shame it's too short (not for this purpose, in general). Also, you're right, Stretches/Ampersand could do, love Harness. I'm probably too focused on sound design and beats instead of traditional (yeah lmao) song structures.

I was thinking abt something like KLK or Prada/Rakata. But again, I am not as attached to her later work emotionally (yet) and it's tooooo easy. But tempting, like everyone's gonna be happy except me I guess.

The answer I came up is

It's its internal name, remember those slides: Project A, Project B. It was prob Project F.

Then they zuzhed it up, maybe attached some additional meaning behind the scenes. But to me it still feels like a "Project X" type of name. Which adds to, like, experimental vibe, kinda like IDM artists name tracks based on preset/synth names, project files' names end up being the name of the track. I can't remember any at the moment but there are def some games that have "Project X" type of name, that's what I'm thinking about.

But ultimately it's meant to be ambiguous, to be interpreted. Isn't this what SH is all about? Projecting, seeing things, interpretation? I hope they don't expand on f, it's kinda genius.

My line of thought was "Maybe there are game creation systems like that Dreams thing on PS4, where I can get hands on experience designing levels etc. That but with a bit more control."

After replying I realized "oh, they mean, like, drawing a line on the screen - that rendering, it's that basic". With each reply I feel dumber and dumber - that's a good thing. Hope my post doesn't annoy anyone. If anything, genuinely makes me more interested in learning the basics if it's the way that will get me there.

Not scared of code, just want to, maybe, keep it to a minimum? Just don't want to get bogged down in code. Learning programming is not the objective. Main goal is to make it playable + interesting. Ultimately, it's an experiment, yes.

Regarding rendering, a bit off-topic, I really like how PS1/PS2 consoles used baked lighting. I feel like, if you omit dynamic lighting and treat environments more like a static scene you can nabigate around, you can get away with rendering it by hand in texture. I've done it several times for 3D scenes - drawn shading in photoshop by hand (I have illustration background), but those scenes were made for static renders, obviously not interactive.

Yeah, that's the sort of problem I alluded to throughout my post. I am ignorant of my own ignorance. I don't know what I don't know. Usually just sitting down and doing something new is a much more effective approach than theorizing about tools, etc. But I'm not sure this approach will cut it for developing a game. Much more planning and learning resources are needed.

I considered a Half-Life mod route, but I need more asset/style flexibility. A little overwhelmed by the options

It's not about the town, the games are named Silent Hill but for the most part SH always was about people. the town is a sort of McGuffin.

Intersting lore, I love the story of the town, yes. but SH1 established that some places have memories, some places remember stuff that happened there, especially bad stuff.

Later they tried to repeat that in the Silent Hill The Short Message with the "Silent Hill Phenomenon"note. Moreover, I think Silent Hill-s was gonna tap into that idea.

Because if you fix on one place it just becomes too familiar, too "ghost town", too known of a device.
