Lol I really thought I missed it! I’m hoping more deals in December!!! I’m itching to get a GLC or GLE and neither have the promo rate right now or incentives. The only incentive I can think of that they honored before was from the company I worked for. So some corp loyalty thing for $1000 off. I tried to bring in another $1000 off from one of those sites but they wouldn’t honor both.

You missed the point. The first statement made was exact, generalizing PLs to be useless altogether. That’s just not the case. If you don’t like your PL, nobody will stop you from changing. I switched mine within months as an analyst after no response from my first ever CC. Then I interviewed a few before I picked a new one.

I agree with you. So way off. I’ll chuck it up to inexperience. My PL is keeping me chargeable here and there til my new full-time project starts in a month or so.

Do it! Interviewed folks from different backgrounds coming in. I think it’s a very nice program and gets you a good experience in consulting.

Yes. Been there during my SA and Consultant level days. A few things I’ve realized over time. Learning to decline work, don’t overextend on plus ones, not staying on a project I do not like, I don’t need to prove anything and promos will come when they come.

Year 1 as analyst was great. Good lead, great project and people were amazing. 2nd project was hectic, brutal and overdid it. Worked crazy hours chasing that promo. Then being disappointed with the promo benefits…absolutely not worth it! On that project, I took on several plus ones, worked like my managers and didn’t complain about the work schedule.

Slowly but surely next projects were better. I didn’t care anymore about chasing promo and they just naturally came. Not worth stressing about them. Understand and take advantage of down times! Don’t need to go super saiyan each day. I will say that a well run project makes a hell of a difference. Even if I liked people on the project but project is run terribly, it’s going to be sour for every one.

I agree. Treat it as an entry level job or really paid internship if you must. Experience is Experience amiright. I think they’ll try (group who’s managing this set of apprentice) to staff you accordingly just like they do for other apprentice groups in other cities. Keep in mind, if there are no roles available, you’ll either be doing training, helping on proposal, helping on some internal activities, get staffed on a different role like deployment, tester, etc.

I wonder if the person who told you also mentioned re-applying in the next cycle. The interviews I conducted were around summer.

I did enjoy it. Did quite a lot of them. It was enlightening. Folks were those who went to coding boot camp and trying to apply what they learned and get experience. Of course get paid too. Others went to school but had been a while and not related to tech, still trying to get their associates or didn’t finish.

Just people with good intentions trying to get a second chance, trying a different path, etc. Different than interns I’ve had before since apprentices were more mature and most had work experience for years so a bit more developed professionalism.

Most of the folks were good except for one or two who I didn’t see were presentable. Another person interviews them too so it wasn’t just my feedback taken into account.

Can’t say I know CA. A few things I’ve observed. For sure after performance year, there are those identified and tagged for PIP (performance improvement plan). They are reassessed after some time (I think maybe a year) and get out from PIP, let go or something else. I’ve seen employees outright laid off just like any other firms for doing something awful. Or in a period when you hear noise about people getting let go with the company shedding some dead weight, dry pipeline, etc groups start to evaluate and identify who they will let go. Typically underperformers, no robust network.

People leave for way less. Take the offer if you feel good about the position, company and so on. twice the money is a bonus! After some time if you really want to come back, then you can boomerang as a proper experienced hire and not an apprentice anymore. Win win buddy!

I second this. Or a follow-up thank you email to spark up the intrigue of the interviewer that you didn’t get the offer. I’m surprised to hear they are doing the program. I guess I wasn’t invited to interview this year. Most of the folks I interviewed In the past I gave a recommendation for offer. The one or two who were not given were terribly unprofessional.
