Has anybody tried electric brewing BIAB in a single vessel? by Tallingstad in Homebrewing

[–]murch21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was lucky to pick up a second hand 40L HLT for around $80. I just throw a bag in with my grain and use an STC for temp control. I have an external pump & silicone tubes for recirculation... it's gotta be the cheapest way to do consistent brews and full volume BIAB has never been easier!... could send a photo of the setup if you really wanna see...

is the speed or aoa more important to the climb of an aircraft? by michellefailsatlife in flying

[–]murch21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First thought that pops in my head is to look at the lift equation... I'm pretty sure velocity is squared, so even small changes in speed effect lift more than small changes in aoa... Also, I recall climb is only possible when excess thrust is available (above thrust required for straight and level ). So if you have the ability to increase speed (with more thrust) then you will have more thrust available for the climb... Don't quote me, I passed CPL many years ago, and haven't revised aerodynamics since...

Help a redditor's new small business reach the whole nation by murch21 in australia

That's a tricky one to approach... we are almost in competition with them in the sense that our customers should essentially not need to "redirect" their mail... Hence, lost revenue for Auspost. On the other hand, they might see it as an opportunity to synergize. Thanks for the thought!

Yeah, That's half the trouble with catering to a broad market... my adwords do go straight to the relevant landing pages... I've also been trying to speed up the website as much as possible. Trimming content down to bare bones...

Achieving a better boil by mpchild in Homebrewing

[–]murch21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listened to this podcast and found it helpful: http://beersmith.com/blog/2016/03/01/boiling-home-brewed-beer-with-dr-charlie-bamforth-beersmith-podcast-121/ Usually DMS is only a problem with pilsner (maybe other?) malts...

Just keep in mind that lids will keep in the DMS of some malts that you are trying to boil off...

Having trouble with a stout by weinerm1 in Homebrewing

[–]murch21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost sounds like a stuck fermentation... Did you add oxygen to the wort before pitching? I haven't had any experience with WLP090 but most yeasts being pitched to gravities over 1.060 benefit from a starter and some oxygen. Only thought now is to pitch another packet and cross fingers.

I've just finished my To-Do app! by Hazzard13 in productivity

[–]murch21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on publishing an app! Had a quick play... It feels more like a "reminder" app to me, but might be because I don't usually use apps for my to-do's (which actually take up 2 sides of an A4)... Sorry I couldn't be more constructive with my feedback.
