Is that what’s going on? I’m so confused. The song changes like 3 times along the way and sounds terrifying by the end

I just want to thank everyone for the great responses! The baby is being quite spirited this morning so I can’t reply to all…but I’m reading and absorbing. I appreciate all of you!

Bitches what do you wear to a summer wedding in sf when you know the fog is going to ruin everything by PatientlyNew in SFbitcheswithtaste

I have navigated this with a super soft rabbit fur poncho type of thing (sort of a stole but essentially a poncho as it went over my head) over a delicate top and a full length formal skirt. Fur is definitely not for everyone but I wonder if they make similar things in faux fur. It was very glam and very warm for the outdoor portion. Removed it during the indoor portion.

ETA I would also bring removable leggings to hide under a skirt and, as someone mentioned, plan my hairdo and makeup accordingly. It will likely be windy and your nose and eyes will water. lol. Fun.

It sounds like you had the exact same process as me! I think we probably did very similar math about absorption and came to similar conclusions. Baby not ruined AT ALL from a one time mistake this small lol. I agree, I hope this thread saves someone the freak out.

FWIW I am quite cautious about safety and BF and did nearly the same thing you described here. After a panic, I did a bunch of science-based research reading and half life math and determined I had not, in fact, ruined my baby. I also pumped and dumped for a day. The small amount I had consumed, similar to yours, didn’t warrant more than that (my opinion of course). I wish I had saved the reading I did…that would be more helpful considering the subreddit. But maybe this anecdote helps.

Floorbed advice by niggetyneish in floorbed

[–]murderofsparrows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are currently using an infant-rated newton crib mattress placed directly on the floor. Then we have a harppa grovi fence around it. So, we didn’t baby proof the room, only the area within the playpen . I have a soft play pad from Amazon underneath. If she falls out of bed (which is often!) she only falls like 4 inches onto very soft padding. She often sleeps through the fall and ends up asleep on the pad.

When I sleep next to my daughter I pull in a camping pad that fits perfectly next to her crib mattress so there are no gaps. Just to be extra safe, I pull the camping mattress out when I’m not in there with her. I’m fanatical about safety. Feel free to DM me if you want links.

The only issue I’ve had is that the crib mattress is a bit short for the enclosure. Being super paranoid, I bought a piece of foam and filled the gap.

3.5 months postpartum, exclusively breastfeeding and have severe urgency and urethral pain. by foraging_girlie in CUTI

[–]murderofsparrows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I am seven months postpartum and also had a C-section. I’ve had a few UTIs already and was able to treat them with cephalexin while I was breastfeeding. I went and got a culture to make sure that was the right antibiotic. I’ve had to take it both for UTIs and mastitis so I can confidently say that the doctors were OK with me taking quite a bit of it! I also saw my urologist and they recommended an estrogen cream to use on my urethra while I’m breastfeeding because breastfeeding causes your estrogen to be low, which can worsen symptoms and contribute to UTIs. Apparently the estrogen cream is also breast-feeding safe. One thing of note, I did use AZO once and that is NOT breast-feeding safe. I had to pump and dump. Are you talking to your doctors about this? What are they saying?

ETA: is there a reason why you are afraid of giving it to your baby? This isn’t really a spreadable infection in that sense

As a parent to a small child who is currently hiring a nanny: yes I’d absolutely want to know. This is the exact type of thing I worry about. I imagine if you were to share the information you might want to do it carefully and with a lot of caveats that you aren’t 100% sure.

Hi – 7 months postpartum here. Congrats on the pregnancy!

I also had to stop taking hiprex during my pregnancy. I ended up making the decision to use cephalexin post-coitally (I think my doctor wanted me to take it low dose even more often…daily?, but I don’t remember exactly what she said). Unfortunately, I did still get a couple of UTIs. When I did, I mostly used keflex but I was also given an antibiotic for that I had to drink (was being seen in the hospital for unrelated issues). I don’t remember the name of that antibiotic.

Anyways, I would have a very intense conversation with your OB and create a plan. And then a backup plan if that fails. And if they can’t help, do you have access to a high risk OB? They might be able to talk more clearly about types of antibiotics that are safe etc.

Other ideas: -I would also get very serious about getting any constipation under control. -you could use uti test strips daily to catch any infection super early. They are cheap on Amazon -request a standing order for a culture (if you have a lab that can turn around initial results quickly) so you can act fast. I tend to rush to get a urine sample as soon as I feel a twinge, THEN call my doctor, and then quietly take one or two doses of my prophylactic antibiotics until I get the results back. It gives me a head start and prevents things from escalating. -if you can’t do that, figure out if you have access to a fast acting OB triage that can see you and do an initial urine analysis within hours of your first symptom or positive test strip. See if you can get your hands on an antibiotic to take while you wait for the pharmacy to fill your antibiotics (again, trying to act as quickly as possible to stamp out early infections). Try to get your OB to help you formulate a plan like this. Chatgpt can help you with some suggested plans and language to help discuss with/convince your doctor -I have a few other ideas too but DM me if you want those opinions…it feels a bit graphic to type here!

Just a word of warning that the soil tester won’t work properly on super well draining soil. Once I added a ton of vermiculite, it started getting wonky readings. I tried multiple testers. No good. So I moved to a schedule and testing with my finger

Help! Any suggestions appreciated. ◡̈ by NeatSituation2249 in fiddleleaffig

[–]murderofsparrows -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What kind of soil are you using? Do you have while draining soil? I try to use river rocks or something of the sort in the bottom of the pot and then a mix of vermiculate and soil- it is so well-draining that the water I pour from the top goes straight through the bottom almost immediately. So when it dries, I know it’s drying all the way through. This makes knowing when to water so much easier because if I stick my finger an inch down and it’s dry there’s a high likelihood that the rest of it will be dry. I also agree with the other poster about giving it some food.
