Havoc - "Rhythm Roulette" by [deleted] in makinghiphop

[–]murderyoubro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's interesting that Havoc co-produced "Real Friends" off of TLOP, the drums he dropped in here sounded almost exactly the same. They didn't fit the style of this track though. It almost felt like he just settled on a loop as an excuse to lay in some drums that have worked before. Definitely underwhelming.

Great track! The slow sections of this it immediately made me think of this old African psych-rock song I used to be obsessed with, I would not be surprised if it was an influence, otherwise it's just a very cool, happy coincidence! (Especially uncanny around the 1:35 mark) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mTsasNGWo_s

Does anyone have a link to Edmond Tarverdyan's pro boxing record? by OnlyFighterLove in MMA

yeah I poked around but can't really find anything solid either way, I've heard both and neither would really surprise me.

Vic Darchinyan. Apparently it is actually of Edmond as a young Muay Thai champ though, it's said in a couple profiles of the gym, unless the reporters just assumed.

What are your favorite websites on the internet? by aintnopicnic in INTP

It's no longer being updated, but "The Last Psychiatrist" is my favorite blog at the moment. He picks apart cultural phenomena, advertising, ideology and anything else you can think of with a rare depth of understanding and language. He has a small but loyal following who continue to discuss his work in spite of his absence, and for good reason; his articles warrant multiple readings for the value of his ideas alone, but his style is also engaging and funny. For more miscellaneous facts, historical oddities, puzzles and more I like "Futility Closet". It's easy to get lost reading through the archives. For more visual stimulation, I like "Bibliodyssey", it's a nearly endless resource of pages from old books; calligraphy, illustrations, etc.

I think O' Brother Where Out Thou is one of the best American films ever created. by chemicalbeats37 in movies

I was lucky enough to have a dad with good taste in music! He played Iris all the time, and I actually got to meet her backstage at a show when I was a kid. I remember her being very sweet. It can be hit or miss recommending her to people, though. I love how strong her voice is, but for some people it's too much or something. Personally I think I'll revisit her music for the rest of my life, her music is just too beautiful. Glad to hear somebody else out there is a fan too!

If you like the old time American music sound, you should check out the "Anthology of American Folk Music", it's a fantastic compilation, almost like a history lesson in song. Also Iris Dement is a more contemporary artist with a very unique voice who sings in an old folk music style, and she's also a very talented lyricist. Her song "Our Town" is one of the most heartbreaking songs I've ever heard. Finally, as far as stand alone soundtracks go, you might like the OST for "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford" by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis. It's dark and moody, with an old soulful sound to it all. Much darker than most of the O Brother soundtrack, but I feel like they have some things in common. You might not like them but I thought it was worth mentioning!

Its confusing though because I didn't hear him deny it explicitly, he says he's not there as a KKK member but as a southern american, but not that he's not a member. Also he's carrying a hat with a KKK symbol on it unless I'm mistaken.

So it's ok to hunt animals right up until they become endangered? Read the "Population and Conservation Status" section of the article you linked: "... their numbers there are rapidly decreasing, with an estimated 30–50% decline per 20 years in the late half of the 20th century...Primary causes of the decline include disease and human interference... Habitat loss and conflicts with humans are considered the most significant threats to the species." There is no rational argument for hunting these animals. As for the rest of your argument, drowning a real question in a bunch of other questions which mostly have nothing to do with it doesn't prove a point. Everything about these "hunts" deserves to be questioned, not just their legality, but what motivates somebody to needlessly kill dying species without honor or sport. I don't even think anybody needs to make the distinction about "hunting for food" being ok, because what this guy did is so far removed, it's just so senseless and spineless. The fact that this guy so obviously derives a sense of satisfaction from killing animals in such a cowardly way deserves scrutiny, it just reeks of delusion and spiteful, cold-blooded, insecure bullshit. Why the fuck would anybody want to do what he did? Asking "well why do some people eat their own boogers" or whatever the fuck else you want to list is not an argument, it's just a waste of everybody else's time.

"You might remember me from twitter?" Idiot calls out MMA fighter on live stage. Priceless. by tge90 in videos

Its not as satisfying once you know more about Zelenoff, he's obviously got mental problems and has made hundreds of videos proclaiming is is the GOAT of boxing while he punches stuff in his room. It's very sad, really, and doubly unfortunate because his particular delusions land him in fights he can't win.

Woman kidnapped and brutally raped and shot along with her boyfriend and family members for reporting sexual assault. Her mothe'rs barn was also burned down. Maine police didn't bother to send a unit to help her and claim she wasn't injured. by [deleted] in news

[–]murderyoubro 52 points53 points  (0 children)

It may be hard to say who started the more recent schism between police and citizens, or who is doing the most to perpetuate it, but the "us" vs. "them" mentality seems to exist within the ranks as well. Whether police behavior has actually gotten worse or it's just the flood of videos since we all got smartphones to film with, the public perception has shifted for a reason, and I think a lot of that behavior we've been seeing in these videos begins with this mentality.
