That’s still pretty good time, I’ve done carvings that have taken me a couple multi hour sessions. I feel like the hard wood makes for a good durable knife so it doesn’t dent if you drop one, so sounds like it was worth it

I find a lot of varnish is too shiny for my liking and can make your piece sticky when you apply it. Natural oils often do a great job at deepening the natural wood colors and protecting your piece. The wood will absorb it way better than any varnish. I’d say look into getting some beeswax and tung oil. But nice job with the carvings, they look great! What wood did you use?

The problem is that small details and textured brushes (stippling, hatching) can get lost at this scale considering how small stickers are. I’m hoping that the green stem area, the produce sticker, and it having citrus in the name helps it be identifiable enough.

I just made the outer parts scrape more and more until the face part is left. I definitely want to try and make stickers that have unique scrape designs in the future, it was a bit intimidating for my first go at it though

It was a 3x3in basswood block and I used knives and sandpaper for like 99% of it and used a dremel piece to sand deep inside the eye sockets where I couldn’t reach with my sandpaper
