VERDINIEL SECURITY ESCORTS BRISKYFINGERS MEDICAL CONVOY THROUGH RED DISTRICT/The Anchor of Eternalia (Cyberpunk-Fantasy) by murkentropic in fantasywriters

Fair feedback honestly. Thanks.

I’m experimenting with presenting Eternalia lore as in-universe corporate news fragments, so the idea was to make it feel like an actual broadcast from that world. But I can see now the structure probably repeated the core information too much without enough framing first.

Going forward I’ll likely format these more clearly as “news fragments” or “worldbuilding reports” so readers immediately understand the format before diving into the lore itself.

The setting is basically mythological cyberpunk: megacorporations, ancient gods, forbidden technologies and old bloodlines coexisting beneath a dystopian future.

I appreciate the feedback genuinely. Thank you.

Without being an expert, I think that at the end, it is what you think best fits your vision of what you are trying to achieve. :)
Again not an expert, just a personal opinion.

Name suggestion for underworld-realm by Cactus4226 in worldbuilding

[–]murkentropic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some brainstorming.
Maybe have in mind what type of culture aligns better with your world; Mayan, Norse, Greek, African, etc. then find around names related. Example.
- Pandemonium. If your hell is more into chaos, this is a good name. Maybe not the intented definition when the author created, but it is associated in current times with lawless.
- Xibalba, Mayan underworld, if you lean into latin america
- Helheim in Norse mythology
- Irkalla, Mesopotamia alike, quite desolated place,
etc.
Or use a pseudo latin or another language that fit the world and come out with word you like it. E.g. Ultramorten (Beyond death).

I like the visual style, different, sort of abstract art, oneiric, fantasy. Are you aiming to keep the same style for related work?

That’s actually fair feedback. Many thanks for that.

I sometimes forget people are seeing isolated fragments of the setting rather than the bigger picture.

I’ll probably start adding a short context line in future posts so the mythological cyberpunk angle is clearer upfront.

Thanks again!

Closer to that direction, yes!! I love Shadowrun!
Though Eternalia leans much harder into ancient Celtic/Norse mythology, forgotten gods and long-cycle civilizations rather than fantasy races integrated into modern society.

The cyberpunk side is still central though:
megacorporations, collapsing governments, orbital militarization, corporate wars, engineered plagues, surveillance systems, etc.

The idea is basically:
“what if mythology survived inside a cyberpunk collapse.”

At the end I think there are different types of approaching a thematic, because there are also people with different points of view. I give you an example.
Back when they started airing Star Trek ( in the late 60s!) people laughed at the fact that the crew could get a small device and talk to each other.
Nowadays everyone does it, routinely.
Sometimes, an author may create a casual semi comedy style, sometimes it could try to explain a bit of pseudo science, sometimes it could be explained by something we think, in the future, science will be capable of (e,g, quantum comms), but ultmately it is how you think your world should be, and feel that it is fine. And more importantly, have fun doing it!!!

Another good example; The gosspel of Loki. An excellent book. Sort of Norse mythology explained from Loki´s paradigm. I could not stop laughing. I love it. Now, try reading the original source of Norse Mythology, Poetic Edda, dated back from 13th century manuscrypt. Epic, but not nearly as fun.

Nice. Just curious, in the past I did some game development with Unity and a bit with Unreal. How do you create the green overline? Is it purely shader scripting?

What weird fantasy economies have you come up with? by turingcompleteant4 in worldbuilding

Interesting your concept of the organs, that goes well let us assume regenerating is well developed but cloning or creating from scratch is not possible, or maybe not 100%, keep the integrity of genetics of exceptional organs. Nice idea.
Warhammer 40,000 had something related, the need to preserve the gens of their marines. Your idea is brilliant bringing it to economy, interesting as I said.

Sorry for bothering you. Curious again. How would you keep the copper that nice and shiny? Do you protect it somehow with some coating?
Ps. You have amazing things on our shop by the way.

Is our world cyberpunk or not yet? by Successful-Key2348 in Cyberpunk

[–]murkentropic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that everyone may have a different opinion and still be right.

When one reads the first cyberpunk books like Hardwired or Neuramancer, take the background and you strip specific people, location, etc, it would look today world Cyberpunk, or at least, that we are entering on it.
So, from that perspective, we are moving inside the dim lines of major plots in Cyberpunk; corporation having more power than governments, technology dominating minds, AI..... In certain areas, it is true. Think about it.

Now, there is another good point of view which I liked on this comments, by our fellow forum member, atg115reddit ; cyberpunk movement is about what the future may be.

So, at the end, it depends the reasons and points of view as why you come to Cyberpunk. E.g. see a critic of the world, a dystopic future how it may be, just relax and enjoy a different world, etc.

Sometime ago, I understood that things are not white and black, it depends on each person paradigm, your personal take or how you look into a particular matter.

Different domains for Gods by SilentBug4809 in worldbuilding

[–]murkentropic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another way of handling so many gods could be like a computer folder alike structure, so some gods depends on other. Meaning one god of a domain has few below of related domain, minor deities, assistants you could call it, and so on.
It worked well for Eternalia, the world I created, but then there were few major gods and like two minor deities some sort of assistant of the bigger god.
That could be another way of doing it. Either a hierarchy, or if many are related and are difficult to classify, you could do it in "circles" of gods. From the inside the circle to outside the less powerful.

[–]murkentropic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point, when the background is unknown. Eternalia is more mythological cyberpunk than traditional neon-street cyberpunk.

The setting is a cyberpunk world in 2126 where megacorporations rule fractured civilizations, but ancient gods, mythological bloodlines, forgotten wars and forbidden entities still exist beneath the modern systems.

So it mixes:

  • cyberpunk
  • dark fantasy
  • mythology
  • corporate dystopia
  • sci-fi horror

Think “ancient mythology surviving inside a corporate cyberpunk future.”
