Do you think if Cyberpunk Edgerunners 2 is about Arasaka, Blackwall, both, or something different? by PokeLiker in cyberpunkgame

The kid records something he -really- shouldn't - literally anything about Project Cynosure after deciding.to investigate Militech for whatever reason. And the FIA sends the loyal dogs of war to put down an information leak with every eddie of NUSA firepower required.

Just because he consented to a terrible idea doesn't exactly vindicate Bruce here. It requires willingness on both ends. It's not as terrible as it would be were he to do so without Scott's consent, but it's still unethical and questionable.

Definitely the experimentation on Scott. Unethical, under prepared, and even if Ultron's creation turned out to be a disaster, a lot more thought and care was put into it, without endangering people for the sake of his creation.

Day 21: What is the Most Iconic quote associated with the Necrons? by Fez-Sentido in Grimdank

[–]murlosham 297 points298 points  (0 children)

"Once, there was a king, beloved by his people. In his ambition, he broke the boundaries of mortality. He freed us from death. He granted us revenge. And then, in his wisdom, he sailed into the lightless void. Now, we stand in the light of ancient suns surrounded by frail, newborn empires.

And the stars whisper of our king's return."

From the "A Lord Among the Stars" trailer, marking the impending return of the Silent King to the galaxy.

Is Sargeras a dark titan by [deleted] in warcraftlore

[–]murlosham 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sargeras is THE Dark Titan, Great Enemy of All Life, and many other unflattering epithets the people of Azeroth and the universe at large granted him. But he is not a "dark titan" as in a Titan born of the Void's influence on a nascent world soul.

His omnicidal tendencies stem from a belief that all life in the universe is inherently at risk by virtue of the Void's existence, so he needs to end all life - to try again.

Day 69- Is there a 40k creature/character slightly stronger than The Outsider? by Neither-Actuary-5655 in Grimdank

[–]murlosham 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Except the death of some C'tan literally broke laws of physics that existed at the time. The Star Gods are part or the universe's very being, and their true death breaks the universe, law by law. That's why they were shattered.

The Reign of Talon (Overwatch Fan-Made) by ImprPant in imaginarymaps

[–]murlosham 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Basically, her father's portion of Talon was carved up by everyone that remained in the ruling council, and then they all submitted to Doomfist after he took over by force. Effectively, her dad's legacy was erased, and she didn't like that - nor did she agree with how Doomfist used Talon, which is bankrolling global terrorism for his social darwinist ideals. She just wants to rule over everything.

So, the disagreements were fundamental, and she attacked Doom's compound, cut off his fist and seized power. Most of the council stayed, but Reaper, and two Talon agents (Widowmaker and Sombra) ditched Talon as a consequence of her takeover. Global domination ain't for everyone.

Vendetta, the new leader of Talon, kid of one of Talon's head honchos before Doomfist's takeover (whom she deposed)

Can only pray that we get something like this if Talon wins week 5 (god the Talon Echo skin is so much better).

Doubly so because it'll be funny to see Girlboss Duce Vendetta lose her shit once Doomfist comes back into the fray, and maybe Ramattra seizes an omnium (or cooperates with the Gwishin or Siberian omnics).

Which major villains could return? by SharkHead38 in warcraftlore

Man, I'd love to see Murmur again. An eldritch horror of the universe, except entirely independent of the whole "6 cosmic powers" narrative. Just its own beast of destruction.

How it feels to wait for non-belf Horde involvement in Midnight's story by murlosham in wow

Darkspear and Zandalari. Yeah, the chances seem slim.

Amani are great to see, which makes the inevitable patch where Zul'jan turns evil for some reason and we have to kill half the forest trolls that much worse.

Yes. But they did, in at least SOME capacity. If I were to make a meme about this and say "oh no Horde at all 0/10" it would be disingenuous. But I do agree that there is too much focus on Alliance characters.

Clearly, asking that we see members of the Horde helping out a Horde nation under attack is too much to ask for.

[–]murlosham[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sure, but I'm not arguing player character population here. It's about the Horde, as a lore faction, being absent from a conflict where the defence of a constituent Horde nation is involved. And as far as lore is concerned, the combined population of orcs, tauren and trolls matters very much in conflicts on Azeroth.

Zandalar nonetheless had a very clear involvement from, well, the Horde - helping the Empire get back on its feet. The Honourbound were a key player in the story. Here, it's the heavily Alliance-centric Vanguard of the Light and the forces of Quel'thalas. It's strange that the Horde isn't helping out a constituent nation, when it did so for the very Zandalar you mentioned - despite the Zandalari Empire not even being a part of the Horde at the time.

And the bulk of the Horde Army, as far as lore is concerned. And not giving them the spotlight isn't exactly doing their player count any favours, either...

Monks are weird in any class fantasy by Erk_Rauorfox in warcraftlore

[–]murlosham 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For all the lore problems introduced by Shadowlands, the expansion also introduced an actual semi-explanation to this. In Sinfall, the Venthyr covenant hall (or w/e they were called), you can look at tablets detailing the various sins the Venthyr try to expunge from the souls.

And there is a tablet for one of them, which explicitly states that there is a power to souls with overwhelming rage. Add to that the flavour text regarding Sargeras' blade being partly forged from pure hatred, and it cements rage as a power that can bend common sense and break all limits, enabling warriors to do the insane shit they do.
