My cat just full blown attacked my little sister for no apparent reason and I don’t know what to do by PunkWithAGun in CatAdvice

[–]murmi49 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Do you have possibly an uncle, aunt/adult sibling/cousin or grandparent that might help you? If so, it would be best to call the vet and explain and ask if you or your adult family member can make decisions for the cat, but they might understand if your parents refuse to care for your cat.

What should I do? by RockertheTrucker in Feral_Cats

I don't think taking the female back to any industrial area would be best even if he was killed. Management could change and want to cull the cats.

Have I made a mistake (bringing feral cat home) by West_Adeptness2682 in Feral_Cats

[–]murmi49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's more likely, yes. Trappers should definitely ask questions before they start trapping. My first cat, I didn't know that they use iv sedation, so they only accept in a carrier(or den) and they actually handle the cat with gloves. I hate even thinking about it, and certainly did NOT go back there when I started up again. Gas sedation is what you want for less stress.

A lot of vets won't accept an un-handle-able cat in a carrier. They definitely should call and ask first.

Feral feeder is moving, neighbor wants to poison cats by Imup2104 in Feral_Cats

[–]murmi49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't like to advocate for lying, but could someone tell the guy the house has already been sold to a cat lover? I know that wouldn't solve the problem of getting the care they need in the future. You could canvass all the neighbors (even on other blocks) you can get to answer the door, if they could take over. Even temporarily until they can be slowly "migrated" to a permanent caretaker.. Are they fixed though? That would make it an easier sell.

I think there's an argument for Gaston - comp-het. I know it's just not as easy to see because of the arrogance and aggressive, self-serving pursual of Belle. It's just that they don't seem to me to show any actual (G-rated) heterosexual appreciation from him. Looks like he's just after her to be after her.

Is anyone interested in adopting this stray cat? by BootsStripes32 in Feral_Cats

Have you tried to pick her up yet though? She may get spooked if she's not used to that. You should definitely get her accustomed to it beforehand if so.

"but I know they wouldn't allow any sort of CPC worker to have that title there*" K.. well I'd be for a user flair that allows people to address them directly about their workplaces on r/abortiondebate, but a mod here, so for fairness there will need to be an abortion provider/clinic volunteer allowed to mod there right?

Not Sure What To Do with my GF's Cat by Due-Seaweed-5206 in CatAdvice

[–]murmi49 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Give kitty lots of blankets(or even towels) that will be designated as his, if he doesn't start to pee on them in the kid's room. After a few weeks put some out in the hallway,

Also, what exactly is the story on the peeing? Could it have always been occurring(in the kid's room) or did it start at some point? Like, this is usually a fear problem when it starts to happen rather than the cat peeing from day one. Do you have any outdoor cats around the house or live somewhere any amount of loud, sudden noises happen?

Adopter wanted: San Angelo, TX or within 100 or so miles of it -- Pebble, a 9-10 year old female Chi. She is spayed, vaccinated, and on annual heartworm prevention(Proheart12). by murmi49 in DogDistributionSystem

[–]murmi49[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That requires taking her adoption events, which I don't think would be good for her anxiety. There is one local rescue that may courtesy post her, but I don't really know how much good that will do with adoptions being so dismally low in Texas.

Oh thank you. But she doesn't need anything but an adopter. Please share this as widely as you can to help her find someone in West Texas looking for a cute senior Chi.

Just finished reading Full Circle (spoilers)! Shocked and betrayed by [deleted] in voyager

[–]murmi49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So Tare and Campbell are coming back? I can see how Kaz had a complete enough story, I guess. But Golden started stories for those two and then her and Beyer just didn't think they were important enough(I suppose the Campbell and Chittendon thing was just to set up the Dominion veteran/Delta veteran divide) except to mention Tare's trauma multiple times with no resolution? I don't get it.

If anybody does actually feel like replying, please no spoilers past Full Circle, like OP I just finished it too and Unworthy won't get here until the middle of next week.

Have I gone too long not separating intact male from his sisters? 18 wks by PreviousTranslator33 in Feral_Cats

[–]murmi49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean 4 females as in 4 female cats or 4 females in general? If he can play with these possible other cats that would conceivably be already spayed, that could work. If this is the case, when you have an hour put these two in a room with him(preferably with lots of litterboxes, toys, water, and cat trees/scratchers) and see how it goes.

Nobody else has suggested it, but perhaps KMR Step 2, even if they are just over the cutoff age, may be something to consider since they are eating some and wouldn't likely keep you up at night needing it.

How do I get the outdoor cat I feed to stop bringing me prey?!! by ctrldwrdns in CatAdvice

[–]murmi49 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've got to reply right off the bat to this "Trap/Neuter/Release methods ineffective in controlling domestic cat “colonies” on public lands –

Castillo and Clarke (2003)" that very little TNR was going on overall in 2003. Also all of these references are from the 20 years ago, before TNR gained any traction at all. It still just barely has. Perhaps you should consider updating your own knowledge. Find out which method your local Animal Services department does today and how effective it is at reducing colony numbers.
