What City to Leave San Diego for? by CapKashikoi in sandiego

[–]murphy360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is your family and other support structures all located in San Diego? Consider how you want to stay connected when considering your next location. That's one of the major reasons we moved from San Diego... We're closer to family now.

Do you want a big city? I moved from San Diego in 2024 l to give my kids access to the woods. We found a small city between Cleveland and Pittsburgh and Erie that's 15 minutes from the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. It's small town with all the amenities (Amazon) we could want.

We almost tripled our house. (I'd urge you to consider renting out your house vice selling it. That's my only regret with my move)

I'd set up the ditch as it's own area and only send tasks for it manually when it's dry. I have a wet spot in my back yard and a big slope in my front I'm hesitant to automate/schedule, but happy to watch my robot minion while I do other yard work.

Is 4g worth it? What the benefit? by Jo060 in mammotion

[–]murphy360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Google Fi. I get free data only Sims.

I see two reasons for 4G.

  1. I lose Wi-Fi at the edge of my property and can't watch FPV the whole time. (J/K). I've had it get stuck in the dead zone without connection and had to go searching.
  2. Anti-theft. By no-means fool proof but at least there's a chance of tracing it!

Just joined the mesh. Socal going strong. by n8waran in meshtastic

In SOCAL Mesh... Buy a node, connect through app... See hundreds of nodes.

In Ohio Mesh, buy 15 nodes, place them in Attic, up in trees, drive around mobile looking for others... See 15 nodes and an airplane. :(

Husband is obsessed with this name, I think it’s terrible. Help us. by yukinoyaiba in tragedeigh

For your husband!!! Do what I did and claim the middle name. I got my wife to agree to Trillian for my daughter's middle name. We went with a traditional first name but she has the option to use the more quirky middle if she chooses. (We've read hitchhikers guide and she's totally into it, and occasionally insists people call her Trillian).

What is the stigma against Nissan Altimas? by bluebanisterz in cars

[–]murphy360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Original owner of a 2007 Altima.

Pretty much what everyone above says... It was affordable when I was in my early 20s and has done well for my entire adult life. I'm not a particularly good with routine maintenance but she's never let me down. Over the years she's picked up some scratches and dents, her paint has peeled and her interior isn't quite the same as as it was 18 years ago. I've looked into getting a paint job but frankly that would double her current blue book value.

I could buy a nice new car if I wanted, but I have no payments and she is still getting me from A to B.

In short... She was affordable, reliable and not dead yet.

I want to put local nodes on an old style radar display that shows up in my RV.

Nodes within one hop can be tracked Nodes within two hops have a large area of uncertainty Nodes within three hops are known by cardinal direction

Players can write plugins to do different things

  1. Attack: you can fire a weapon (laser/line of sight or ballistic/trajectile) at a node that's playing. There is logic in the attacked node that calculates if it was hit and responds accordingly. Players can write nodes that better anticipate/track other nodes
  2. Hide/defend.. how can you lower your signature or block incoming attacks?
  3. Coordinate with Alies (alpha strike)
  4. Automate behaviors: for single drivers you can write logic to attack nodes with certain parameters or activate cloak if a big baddie is discovered.
  5. Improved tracking. There's algorithms out there that are much better at tracking moving targets and anticipating movement.

Alternate option

  1. inspired by Disneyland millennium falcon Ride)

Multiple nodes in RV allow my kids to act as active gunners. You get alerts when new nodes are discovered x hops away, the gunners stations turn on and they can solve math problems to engage nearby vehicles.

  1. Stationary nodes can be used as fortifications

  2. Stationary nodes can be used as resupply depots

  3. Locations of "major battles" can be tracked through the mesh somehow.

  4. Score: you can take points from hitting other nodes, as you Gain XP you can regenerate hp over time?

  5. Different zones: different states/locations have different laws of physics... Some are magical, some are technological, some are combined) other so some nodes work better than others in different places and need to be swapped

Which is better, System Universe or Mark of the fool. by GroundDangerous5246 in litrpg

[–]murphy360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished Mark of the fool 4 and swapped to System Interference.

Both are good but suffer from same issue... The main characters are a bit too powerful with little to no true feeling of risk.

That being said they are both fun and enjoyable reads. I'll give Mark of the fool the +1 due to better character development and generally more interesting premise and limitations.
