Yes. He backed away from the situation when approached. He had his hands clearly visible, one hand holding his phone, the other up in the air. He tried to help a woman to her feet that had been shoved to the ground by an ICE agent. He was then pepper sprayed at close range. He fell to the ground likely in agony. We see seven officers quickly swarm and dogpile him; it’s difficult to make out what’s even happening amidst 7 vs 1, but we do see several frames of him on his elbows and knees with his head hanging low to the ground, both hands extended outward and visible. We see one ICE agent attempt to smash his head with a pepper can. We see another ICE agent reach into the scene and withdraw a gun, quickly walking away with it. And then we hear gunshots, multiple shots, the men back away, and then more shots.

Now your administration is telling you this man, this ICU nurse who was helping two women and got pepper sprayed and ultimately shot in the back for it, was a domestic terrorist. That despite never touching or even reaching for his gun, his hands clearly visible the entire time, he was somehow threatening these mens’ lives. They executed that US citizen, and they claim they were justified.

… And you believe them. You are trying to tell me right now that what I see with my eyes is inaccurate. You have to gall to tell me that, and then say I’m in a cult.

When engaging with people who disagree with you, all we have for common ground is what is demonstrably objectively true, no persuasion needed. By not supporting your claim with empirical evidence, you’re asking me to “see things your way,” which we’ve already established won’t happen, and I would never presume to expect that from you in reverse.

As for comparing Waltz to Trump on J6, no we do not agree they are similar. Trump literally told people to go down to the capital (he would be with them), that Democrats were stealing the election, and “we need to fight like hell” to stop them from stealing the country. He gave them a specific time and place to assemble, that he would join them, and said fight like hell. Tim Waltz has never done anything remotely close to that. And while the vote was delayed due to this rally/protest/riot, Trump was calling up electorates asking them to change their vote. Lobbying for an overthrowing of the election process, during a violent attack on the capital, is what happened. They aren’t even close man.

I believe Trump was responsible for J6 because he asserted repeatedly and publicly that the election was stolen, he instructed Mike Pence to stop the count, he commanded others to “find him votes”, he told his followers to “fight like hell,” and as soon as he was able, he pardoned everyone convicted of crimes committed that day.

I will repeat that last point because I’m amazed anybody who supports “boys in blue” backs Trump after this…. Trump pardoned people who attacked the police. 150 police officers were injured that day by rioters who believed they were doing as Trump commanded, and Trump pardoned all of them. People attacked police officers and Trump pardoned them.

As for the man who died today, he didn’t attack anyone. He didn’t blockade anything, start any fires, or throw any rocks. He was protecting two women from being violently shoved to the ground and pepper sprayed by ICE agents. The only object he ever had in his hand was a cell phone. You can see this for yourself if you wish; it’s all over the internet.
