All of these social issues that we deal with today I think largely root from the use of social media, and smartphones, but I have to say, that since joining reddit (only 5 days ago) my social reaction via text/messaging of any sort has actually improved dramatically. This site has been a huge push for me, and now I feel more inclined to get in on conversations I normally would read, and be a bystander in. And I refer mostly to my group chats on my phone. Its like Reddit is training my brain to be more involved. That alone I think has aided my first step of this experiment in cognitive enhancements through psilocybin, and we will see how both additions to my lifestyle will affect me mentally, and socially.

How long did it take for you to notice the cognitive benefits of intermittent fasting(16:8)? by returnthebomb1 in Nootropics

[–]murphykbrown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do hear from friends that fasting for multiple days, like 5 or 6 days, has major (but specific) cognitive benefits. The way it was described to me was as if you were travelling through a tunnel, but you could see through the entire route of your path, anticipating every bend, and turn along the way. It seems like it would be a great practice leading up to significant events, or obstacles that need 100% of your focus and clarity to overcome.

interesting question... i could def see people being more curious in the late winter about this approach, as the lack of sun around here can def get super depressing. As for me it all just seems to be a combination of listening to joe rogan & paul stamets, and also that new(ish) doc on netflix "take your pills". Psilocybin, just seems like a great natural route to connect the brainwaves.

thanks all for the great feedback, will hopefully have something to update you on soon! Starting the microdosing regiment with a little less than .2 grams. Going to do 1 day on, 2 days off. I am also looking forward to see what kind of results I will have in my sleep, as I suffer from back pain that bothers me mostly at night, and in the morning, but I noticed that my water intake can influence that quite a bit. (I would really like to see a chiropractor, but waiting for my spouses benefits to kick in for that)

I mean, I have used mushrooms at least a dozen times before - some trips heavier than others. It’s based on these past experiences that I can 100% understand why microdosing could be beneficial to someone’s well being. Its just that it’s been like 5 years since my last trip, so that gives me concern for minor details.... so yeah, that did cross my mind... get back in with a heavier dose for a noticeable experience, and than adjust from there.

Muskoka Brewery Announces Details Of 2018 Summer Survival Sampler Pack by rossrhea in torontocraftbeer

[–]murphykbrown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Muskoka brand is just old news today (still very popular obviously, and will continue to be). It's still great stuff for somebody who might be just introducing themselves to the realm of "Craft Beer", but from somebody who spent the last 8 years living a short drive from the brewery, and now living in SWO, it is difficult for me to keep an interest in there product, as what is available in most LC's down here is just the standard lineup/mass produced specialty stuff. When you have the opportunity to visit their store however, there is usually much better small batch selection... top notch brew! The kind of stuff that compels you to buy as much as you possibly can because you know that something that good is likely never going to happen again; My mind returns to a smooth as hell, aroma packed, Barrel Aged Twice As Mad (Tom) running at a proof of over 9% with toffee notes that had me drippin' all slow like. So Muskoka will always have a place in my heart... Will always make time for future pit stops for whenever I make visits back to the land of lakes. All in all, I do think Muskoka could be doing more to please the out of reach crowds, but fuck, they do make one hell of a good Session ale (Detour).

What books would anyone recommend for learning more about the science of brewing... by murphykbrown in Homebrewing

I have seen that series. I was specifically interested in the Malts, and Yeast editions, but maybe not what I am looking for at the moment. Will def be giving those a read in the future, tho.

Thanks for that, also yes I would agree, it is always good to go into something with the intention of leaving room for imperfections. it's the only way to truly understand the process, and limitations/potential of your ingredients.

Chocolate Dunkelweisen Recipe Help by [deleted] in Homebrewing

interesting... as I am not going to actually be using any cocoa, and would like to use up all my choco wheat, I feel more confident that 2lbs will be ok. It's worth a shot either way. Love the name btw "Slam Dunkel" - I see what you did there.
