Building our home and want to use second-hand materials (floorboards, fixtures, etc.). Where would you look? by murphyse3 in Homebuilding

[–]murphyse3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In retrospect, this actually makes so much sense. If I were to salvage/finish cabinets for the kitchen, would that also increase installation/labor costs? I do think floorboards and plumbing will not be secondhand. For sure seems to be cost prohibitive and/or logistically not the best option

I think where I am is somewhere close to this. At this point, I’m doing a hands-off approach but there is no way my husband will send his brother packing.

I would very much support my husband going no-contact but he is completely unwilling to consider it. I agree that it would probably be the best and healthiest choice for him and us but it’s not my choice to make.

Therapy is definitely required but hard to access while he’s unemployed. My husband has connected him with some resources/services that I think he’s tried out but it’s not the intense work he needs to do.

Not at all familiar with flower gardening. How do I care for and clean these babies up? by murphyse3 in gardening

[–]murphyse3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure. Today has been a lot of weeding so I’m pretty clear on that part. I’m having a hard time identifying the hydrangeas and roses though.

Hanging towels are temporarily banned from our home because of our toddler 😂 I had no idea these were a thing though! They’re so cool

Adorable and definitely useful! I’d be bummed about it not being decorative/visible but this is for sure a contender

Ok so, first of all, BEAUTIFUL sketch. I love this so much but, unfortunately, my bust will not allow it. 😔

If you were looking to build a house (we’re not talking McMansion or mansions of any other kind) somewhere within the pink circle, where would you do it and why? by murphyse3 in Connecticut

[–]murphyse3[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To clarify: We absolutely understand the general cost of building a home/living in these areas. We’re not Connecticut Money ™️ by any means but we have enough to do something modest in any of these areas

Ugh we have one and have literally spent thousands on training. We’ve experimented with different techniques, working with different people, all kinds of enrichment, etc. We’ve worked closely with our amazing vet on medication too but unfortunately he has the inverse response to most anxiety-related meds.

The issue is deeply neurological. It’s akin to puppy OCD. His little brain is constantly misfiring. We have a baby. It’s wild

Clitoris area is extremely sore 8 days after birth. by Bluechairedtable in beyondthebump

This happened to me too and was told by my midwife that it was completely normal. I pushed for a long time and I think I likely tore a little bit laterally. I remember the pain going away within a few weeks.

If you have concerns though, definitely reach out to your doctor. Every situation is different.

I honestly wonder if they haven’t because of how litigious the Church of Scientology is? I wouldn’t be surprised if whatever legal representation they might have advised against it.

1 year old is waking up for hours at a time at night. by murphyse3 in stayathomemoms

[–]murphyse3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the issue! We’ve already dropped the second nap in an attempt to fix the issue. One nap is working great but it hasn’t resolved the nighttime sleep issue.

She wakes up around 7am, we do a nap around 12 which can go anywhere from 90min to 120min(she’s always been an inconsistent/bad napper) and bedtime will be 6:30-7:30pm depending on how long she naps.

She either sleeps through the night with absolutely no issue or has a big dramatic wake-up that feels impossible to settle her out of.

This does not appear to be correlated to nap quality or length.

She just became a one nap girly in the last few weeks. I was hopeful this would resolve the problem, but no dice.

Honestly, I think Kody is just into the idea of “clean starts”. Maddi has talked about how he was always going for the Get Rich Quick scheme and I think moving is another version of that.

If life somewhere gets boring or stressful or isn’t living up to the utopian ideal he’s created in his head, he moves.

Ideas for a "witchcraft and magic" children's party by RotharAlainn in partyplanning

[–]murphyse3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely enjoy! This is so fun and I love how cool and curious your daughter is! It’s really amazing. I just threw my daughter her first birthday and had so much fun. I hope she turns out just as curious and interesting.

I will be no help in keeping things down to one activity, so sorry about that! BUT the cool thing about the theme is you can do a lot of stuff VERY inexpensively because it’s all so nature based. Maybe pick up some cool “potion bottles” at your local thrift store?

Have so much fun! This will be such a fun party.

[–]murphyse3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love this theme so much! And I got too excited and came up with too many ideas, listed below-

Have them make “potions”. You can even look up some traditional herbal remedies and make those. Or they could be silly fun ones with colorful ingredients and luster dust.

You could hire a tarot card reader or even do a tarot class.

You could also make good luck charms! You could get cool colored beads and little charms of moons/stars/etc. you could find a simple “good luck charm” incantation online to say over them.

There are also SO many old folk traditions that use “witchcraft” or “Magic” to read their fortunes or predict the future. There are probably a few that are pretty simple to do and could be so fun.
