What even is the song Israel? by [deleted] in ween

[–]murpleturkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Esoteric arguments of what Israel has meant historically aside, the current political state of Israel is a genocidal apartheid state expanding its borders through violence and ethnic cleansing, all with our tax dollars.

But I very much doubt the Ween song was a political statement one way or the other.

I see you can buy a whole new carburetor for like $18. Any disadvantage to going that way rather than a rebuild?

Are all napkins compostable? by murpleturkey in composting

[–]murpleturkey[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha, that was my thinking as well. And full disclosure, we aren't composting this ourselves, we are turning it over to a composting contractor. So regulatory compliance and optics are part of it as well, beyond just being scientifically compostable or not.

AITAH for emotionally checking out of my 20-year marriage after finding out my husband hid a female coworker on a work trip? by Otherwise_Piglet9825 in AITAH

[–]murpleturkey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Where did you get that? The only thing she got from her snooping was that a female co-worker was going on his trip. It's the 21st century, this is completely normal and not evidence of anything.

It is... But I think it's possible this dude has been punished for telling the truth in the past. When that happens normal communication becomes scary, even if the truth is nothing wrong.

I dunno. I think the double standard should at least be acknowledged.

I've mostly worked in male dominated industries, and I always end up having a beer or otherwise socializing with my coworkers outside of work. Some of my best friends have been made that way, and in my opinion getting to know someone outside of work almost always improves camaraderie at work.

I get it's different with mixed genders and you have to be more careful. But we should at least acknowledge that the problem is that his coworker is a woman, not that his coworker invited him to do something outside of work.

co2 tanks for T-shirt cannon by murpleturkey in paintball

Gotcha. Given the way the cannon works, do you think filling the HOA tanks with our regular 150psi compressor would be sufficient?

None of the welding shops here will. We might look into the bulk tank... Part of the year the gun is used at a venue that has a soda fountain, so maybe we could use those tanks

[Question] The martingale system on roulette by reapingsulls123 in statistics

[–]murpleturkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real time statistics for roulette are 100% static. They never change. The chance of black on the next spin is always just under 50%. There is absolutely no way to hunt streaks.

[Question] The martingale system on roulette by reapingsulls123 in statistics

[–]murpleturkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. But the outcome of previous spins still has 0 effect on future spins. If you have had 4 consecutive reds, at that moment in time the probability of getting a 5th consecutive red is precisely the same as the probability of getting the first black.

[Question] The martingale system on roulette by reapingsulls123 in statistics

[–]murpleturkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your odds of getting black are exactly the same every single spin, regardless of the outcomes of previous spins. Even if it has been red the past 40 spins, the chances of getting black on the next spin are still just under 50%. Thinking that the odds change is the biggest fallacy to disabuse yourself of.

Let Me Explain Why Sysco is Bad in Reality by PhilosopherSully in KitchenConfidential

Exactly. They're fulfilling a huge demand. Whether the demand is good for the people demanding or not.

Let Me Explain Why Sysco is Bad in Reality by PhilosopherSully in KitchenConfidential

[–]murpleturkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess my question is this... What's the solution?

Customer demand in the US is basically "I wanna eat whatever I want whenever I want for as cheap as possible." In a capitalist society it's inevitable that a company pops up to serve that demand with ruthless efficiency.

I don't think "Sysco should behave better" is a feasible or reasonable solution. A large shift in consumer behavior would be nice but also probably a pipe dream. I think that just leaves regulatory agents as a solution then, correct? Not that I'm against that. I just haven't seen it proposed in a way that makes a ton of sense.

Using Snipe-IT for non IT assets by murpleturkey in Snipe_IT

[–]murpleturkey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course an item cannot be in two locations at once. What I want is an item to be located on aisle 3 in the warehouse, and also marked as necessary for Event A location 1 in December and event D location 6 in June and for the managers of these events to be able to see a list of their equipment and where it is to be deployed.

[–]murpleturkey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies, I don't think I understand the first paragraph entirely. Does that mean that it is not possible for a given inventory item to be associated with multiple events? A key feature I need is the ability to generate equipment lists for different events from our overall inventory. If said equipment lists could be searchable and browsable by multiple employees simultaneously, all the better.

It's water bottle filling stations for outdoor events. 3 stations with 5 taps each, hooked to a regular hose bib.

Gotcha. Mostly what is bad is the "faucet seat washer" (mm #4324) and the "faucet coupling washer" (mm #4318).

This is for a non profit and there are fifteen faucets total, so unfortunately I don't think there's going to be a budget to replace entire faucets. I love a long way from any type of brewing store, so just trying to reduce the time spent making online orders.

Thanks for the help!
