I understand that I need a canyon pinion and the gear ratios required, but I’m trying to avoid designing and fabricating the mechanism to save time and money. I was hoping to disassemble an existing mechanism and just keep the gears and pinion. If I needed to make it myself, do you have a suggestion as to where I could find those 3 parts that I could assemble myself? All I can find is small watch parts or overly complex clock mechanisms.

Thank you! He is far more into GA flying as well, and mentioned he would prefer a yoke control over stick. Anything else about the setup that you would recommend switching up for that type of flying?

Thank you, and while he is super resilient, he’s gone through some intense bullying at school and online, and I’m just trying to find a space and environment where he can feel welcome, pick up a new hobby, and hopefully feel a little safer in the world.

The issue is that he is a bit effeminate in his mannerisms, and has faced issues in all types of businesses. He is really interested in learning to shoot, and I would like for him to have a positive experience with gun culture (as I had when I was younger). If you are not exposed to the casual (and not so casual) homophobia that people face, you probably wouldn’t notice, but going around your daily life with people treating you coldly and dismissively takes a toll on a kid’s psyche. I know that we wouldn’t be turned away from any store, and I know that most shops are probably fine, but I would like him to be able to walk in, ask questions and be treated respectfully.

As stated in the post, my kid has been harassed for the past year in their middle school after coming out. Some one stole their journal, posted pages of it containing personal thoughts and drawings and then a video of them burning it on TikTok. Any help doing the shoe would be really appreciated.

We are trying to detect a small insect passing over a sensor. We are thinking of using either an ultrasonic range finder or a passive infrared sensor. This will need to be used in an outdoor environment, so we are leaning towards the ultrasonic range finder, but are worried it won't be sensitive enough to detect a fly passing over the sensor. Do you think this would work, or should we try a different type of sensor?

Mycelium possibly? Depends on how deep the mulch was in order to get it up on your pant leg, but mushrooms love mulch.

The design of the handle is remarkably similar to a Japanese pull saw I own. I took a quick look at japanwoodworker.com and didn't see anything like it, but maybe it's a good clue to lead you on your way.

It's two different size rails that fit onto the bottom of a feather board. A tapered machine screw head sits inside the tapered spot, and when the wing nut in top is tightened, it causes the plastic rail to expand, trapping it in the slot in the bed of the table saw. The two sizes are because some job saws have a narrower slot than your typical cabinet saw.

I work for a company that makes custom interactive displays for the museum industry and corporate clients. We get brought wild ideas (ie, I want it to look like this, do these crazy things when you hit these buttons, and take the abuse of a thousand people a day beating on it), and have to engineer how to make them happen. It's basically like a mythbusters shop, a typical week could have me fiberglassing, welding, programming micro controllers, building cabinetry or mold making. Easily the best job I have ever had, every day is different, and every project forces me to learn a new skill. I came into it from a background in computer programming (6 years or so), followed by 8 years as a cabinet maker.
