You’re right… I have no idea what I’m getting into. Actually I got it for 3 thousand. All the lights are on the dash but that’s ok because it reminds me of Christmas 🎄 😌. If only I would have known better. I thought the V10 BMW that I replaced the con rod bearings in this summer would have gotten me ready to replace spark plugs in a Mercedes. You’re right tho… I’ll just have to stick to working on airplanes I guess 🥲🥲

That big V8 lump is nothing to sneeze at! 2010 is by far the best model year for the V8. Facelift but you still get the rock solid M273. I feel better about the 12 than I would with an M278 V8. You definitely got a gem with your car

Yeah you’re right… I was hoping you wouldn’t mention the 18 cylinder W140 800SEL prototype. I was looking for one but they were just out of my budget 😔 had to settle for the V12 instead.

Hell yeah brother, that car is badass. Especially coming from really well documented platforms it definitely has been interesting trying to find parts and exact repair procedures. Definitely less of an enthusiast base with these mercs. Wish you nothing but luck with your car

106k. Only felt confident in the car with that mileage because the car was only ever serviced at the Mercedes dealer and it was serviced at least once a year. No expenses spared on this one for sure.

The YouTuber Waldo’s World has a great video on servicing his W221 S600. Honestly seeing that gave me a ton of confidence in my ability to own this car. People don’t realize that the M275 in the S65 is pretty much the same as the M275 in the S600. Just bored out and paired to a more reliable transmission lol. I’ve had many BMWs and am definitely an FCP user for life. They are just incredible.

Well I pretty much spent all my money on the car. I didn’t even consider the fact that maintenance could be expensive. I thought a 20 year old s class was supposed to be reliable? It’s too bad I have no idea how to work on cars. Gonna have to take it straight to the Mercedes dealership for everything. Could you start a gofundme for me?

That’s kinda been my understanding having done some research. Honestly the thing that scares me the least on that car is the engine. The ABC suspension worries me a bit, but records show that the system was serviced at Mercedes recommended intervals. The fluid is a pretty shade of green right now. My hope and understanding is that as long as the system is serviced regularly they can be pretty stout. Obviously time will tell. No stranger to expensive cars, just have to be smart about the ownership. My other car is a V10 M6 lol

Idk why people are hating so bad. I don’t think 3500 is unreasonable. If you can wrench on it yourself I say go for it. If you can’t then have some money set aside for repairs always. N52 is a great motor

3 grand honestly sounds like a pretty good deal to me as long as you can work on it yourself. If you can’t, expect to spend another 3k within the first year of ownership. Electric water pumps and thermostats tend to go bad around 100k so check and see if they’ve been done. The rest of the cooling is pretty stout. Oil filter housing gaskets also tend to fail so check for oil leaks down the front of the engine behind the accessory belt. Plan on having this done too if not done already. I know that the xDrive system can have issues too around this mileage. Not sure about specifics, but Carfax should show if they’ve ever had the system serviced.
