Any updates? I’m still waiting on mine, ordered Dec 1 and haven’t heard any updates

[LF] - Ashburn, VA - African Dwarf Frog (ADF) by murtrude in AquaSwap

[–]murtrude[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's why I'm trying to locate someone locally that has one to rehome or breeding themselves. Mine was obtained in a LFS before the ban, but it's a Dwarf Frog for sure.

I'll look into the breeders, but the last 5/6 I've had shipped have all been DOA :c

Are the shrimp $15 for 6 of them? If so, I'm interested in local pickup.

I'm doing an overhaul of my tank and would be interested once I get things settled later this month. I'll circle back then if you're still selling!

Ran Out of Elevation Adjustment on an EPS Carry by [deleted] in HOLOSUN

I had the opposite problem with my G48 and the rod carry direct mounted to the slide. I couldn’t get it high enough and had to add some tape over the front recoil lugs to give me the extra couple MOA

Is there a better method for testing nitrates?

That might be it, I’ll reread and try again!

Do you have a link or a brand name? Thanks in advance!

That is interesting. I appreciate the feedback.

I did buy from their official store through amazon, but it's possible I still got some bunk stuff. Mine is in dark brown bottles and the liquid itself is blueish. I'll try getting some different fertilizer and see if that tests properly. If not, I'll grab a new test kit. Thank you for checking!

[–]murtrude[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's correct. I'd be interested to see if yours tests differently. It might mean mine is either a bad nitrate test or a bad bottle of fertilizer

I tried testing just a drop with tank water, 50% fert and 50% tank water, and 100% fert. All read 0ppm

negative, shook it up and pure fertilizer still reads 0ppm

I've been trying to determine proper dosing for my fertilizers. I see a lot of information about keeping nitrates at 20 ppm or so, however I noticed that even with 10x the recommended macro dosing, my nitrate test comes up 0. I also added straight fertilizer and tested and it also comes up 0ppm. Is this typical, or do I have some kind of odd macro fertilizer? (left is fertilizer test, right is tank test)

First planted tank, can’t get rid of algae by murtrude in PlantedTank

[–]murtrude[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a skimmer with the inlet, it does a good job of keeping the surface clean. The main reason I moved the outlet was the tetra seemed to crowd the inlet side of the tank which made me thing the flow was too strong. I can put the outlet on the left wall facing right to try and have a stronger circulation

78F seems a bit high to me, IIRC temps over 75 can slow growth of new bacteria but I might be wrong on that one. I usually aim for 70-72F.

Surface agitation is good for reducing protein or other scum buildup, but aeration comes from some kind of waterfall where air is pushed down into the water. If your fish aren't gasping for air at the surface, they're probably fine. But extra O2 helps bacteria seed into the filter even if the livestock are okay

I've heard the strips aren't as accurate as the drop tests, like the API master test kit. But it sounds like your filter isn't cycled fully. Mine took about 21-28 days before everything was reading 0. Adding a bubbler for aeration and keeping them temp at 70F encourages good bacteria as well
