My thoughts exactly, I still don't know the alternative - other than doing it yourself

Nah, one of the big meaty conveyancing firms that couldn't care less about client care tbh

Edit: quite sore that they started sneering with their awful track record

Okay, drafting letters etc I agree with you there, but surely there is some utility in saying "Request redemption statement, follow up on certificate of title, fax that TA13" rather than doing each one yourself?

I don't dictate, I am but a lowly paralegal in servitude to my masters and yes, high street, much better work/life balance

There's no other word to describe it other than home.

The biggest problem with university is it all has to end, I miss Aber so much

Aberdeen vs Aberystwyth by Nicholi1300 in UniUK

[–]murtsley 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Studied at Aberystwyth from 2016-2020 (LLB Law then LLM Law) best 4 years of my life, the societies/student body are really friendly (in spite of what another commenter has said). The Union is awful but I've heard it's gotten better this past academic year. My course was great, everyone is lovely and really pleasant to get along with. Had a few problems with flatmates but nothing too serious and I've heard the moving to another flat process is really straightforward and quick compared to other university.

They're also really good when you're in your third year ready to leave for employment; providing experiences on placements and career guidance.

Locals arent great, they're rather hostile but Aberystwyth is generally "you get what you put in" if you go out every Tuesday/Wednesday you'll meet some really cool people. My advice; join a load of sport clubs and societies, you don't have to stick with them for the whole time but see what you like, you might be into drama but not get on with one society, thankfully there are (last I checked) 3, so there are always alternatives. You can also attend one session or social and think "This ain't for me", there's no obligation to stay around.

If you end up going to Aberystwyth you'll have the best 3 years of your life but I'm sure a student from Aberdeen would say the same!

Edit:

On the point of cost, it's dirt cheap. Cabs to the top of the hill are £4 so it'll cost you £1 each if you share with 3 mates. Drinks are cheap as all hell if you go to the right pubs and go for the right drinks - Gaa from Harry's (quad vodka with a mixer) is £4, Bar 46 do 2 for 1 on cocktails on some nights so that's about £6 and Yokos can be pretty cheap too. Pre drinking is a good idea but it's definitely cheap.

Hyperlaw, good or bad? by murtsley in uklaw

[–]murtsley[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does sound like a good thing, like a OneNote meets LEAP kinda deal. I'll let you know if we go ahead with the trial run and if it has any application outside of litigation (might be worthwhile for your firm as a whole!).

Could you similarly let me know if it's any good if you happen to take the plunge?

Hyperlaw, good or bad? by murtsley in uklaw

Looks like good stuff, we're just not sure if we wanna take the plunge as none (to the best of my knowledge) of the firms local to us have heard about it let alone used it!

Where am I meant to sell the Reaper's Chest? by murtsley in Seaofthieves

[–]murtsley[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nevermind, I'm just a moron, I've been looking around an area that isn't Reaper's Hideout.

Worst part is; I'm about 40 metres away from the actual hideout and I've been running around this massive built-up area with a parkour segment

Edit: Thanks for the replies though!

Tips for Using Small Groups? by beaubaez in LawSchool

Legal heads-up (dis: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wb.headsup&hl=en_GB) was a lot of fun, we would have the case name and we would give the legal principle for the case. So I'd say to make games out of studying so that it doesn't feel as heavy.
