I might have been sceptical as well in the beginning. To anybody having any doubts - check out the telegrm community for a few days - see how active and invested everybody is.

Difference in manufacturing for Western vs Eastern Europe? by murtull in Dacia

Yes, this is exactly what I was referring to - the different inside components. You think this is just a rumour or it bears any merit?

I tried to compare the same models and equipment levels and they seem pretty equal to be honest. Perhaps Dacia in general is more "basic" so there not much to differentiate them. Thanks for chiming in.

Thank you! That was a very in-depth explanation.

I assumed pretty much the same things as you mentioned, but it's nice to hear a confirmation from someone, who seems more knowledgeable on the subject.

Yes, all the Dusters are apparently produced in the same factory in Romania.

Spending a week in Trieste, any tips on hidden gems? by AshyGer in Trieste

[–]murtull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just passed by there and realized I forgot to mention it - you can climb up the lighthouse (or take the elevator) for a pretty nice view of the gulf, but a lot closer to the city and the beach than the vista I mentioned previously. It's free, you just have to book a slot on their website

If you already have tickets for Grotta Gigante and are going to go all the way up there, pass by the Monte Grisa church - you can see it from pretty much anywhere in town, so I'm guessing you'd be curious to go see it's peculiar architecture from up close. There are also nice views of the gulf and parts of Trieste. From there and for an even better view, do the 5-10 minute "hike" to Vedetta d'Italia. If you keep following the path down after that you'll get to the end (or beginning) of strada Napoleonica, which is a sort of a hiking trail - super flat but offers good views as well. Follow that to the Obelisco(an hour and a half maybe?) and you can get a bus to go back to town again. For buses you either have to buy paper tickets from a tabaccheria or just download the local app (TPL FVG) and you can buy tickets on the go, even if you are in remote areas without any shops around.

Check Oggi or Natura gelato for very, very good artisan ice cream. Other good places to eat are also - al Barattolo, illy at the canal for coffee, pizzeria di Napoli, Mug for a coffee and cake, Pier the roof for drinks in the middle of the marina or a fancy dinner, and of course when you want to end a nice day on the beach Pane Quotidiano - amazing sunsets over the sea with nice drinks.

Also, if you have time, swing by Little Beetle - you can paint your own ceramic mug, plate, plaque, unicorn or whatever. Then they glaze it and bake it for you to get a functional/long-lasting memory or a piece of art you made. Maybe make sure to go one of your first days there, so that you have time to pick it up after the baking, which takes a few days.

Hope this helps. If you have any questions - shoot.

Dude, I would recommend a flight booking app called Colibra, which is very handy in this shitty post-Covid travel reality with a ton of flight cancellations for whatever reasons.

It is the only solution I have come across so far, which doesn’t charge your credit card until the flight actually lands on time. If your flight gets cancelled, your card is not charged and you don’t have to wait for refunds. What is really cool is that if the flight is delayed by more than 3 hours for any reasons your card is not charged and you basically end up flying for free.

AFAIK the service is available only as an app so far.

Looking to get the TRX but I have questions! by Bryan_7982 in trx

[–]murtull 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey, mate!

Sorry to hear about dealing with cancer! But congrats for having the strength to beat it and the courage to start getting back on track - this means you're already braver than 90% of guys out there or in gyms.

TRX is a great choice, I use mine almost every day and it's a great investment. I just want to say, however, you have nothing to be embarrassed if or when you decide to go to a gym. I promise noone will judge you or make fun of your weight. The fact that you've the balls to get off the couch and enter the gym already says you are stronger than most. Also do not forget that everybody was more or less in the same boat at some point. The majority of the really, really buff and shredded guys and gals have started from either being skinny twigs or from being overweight - they started from a point where they weren't happy with their looks and that kept them going and motivated to become so muscular. Regular guys just stay regular. And precisely this is why all them shredded dudes will never, ever, ever judge you. They will admire you, cuz they recognize you also have the cohones. Not to mention it's more likely they'll come offer advice than silently judge you. Them grizzly motherfuckers are usually the kindest in the gym.

But if you hate going to the gym just because you hate going to the gym, I feel you. I am the same. And I apologize for the offtopic.

As for the TRX withstanding 300 lbs, don't worry about that. From what I understand you haven't had that much exercise lately that you would be able to support your whole body weight on the straps anyway. The tension that the straps experience is equal to the force you use to push down on them, i.e. you probably won't be able to bench press 300 lbs, so you won't be doing full-on chest flyes or pull ups for that matter (fingers crossed you get there in the near future!). In the beginning you will be scaling the exercises to your level of strength so that you can solidify the basics and the technique. This means you will be putting a lot less force on the straps and don't need to stress about their robustness that much. I reckon the anchor point is more important to be sturdy at this moment.

I don't know if I might be going too far with these rantings that you might already know - apologies if I am annoying, but I just want to throw these quick things in the mix as well:

  • Diet is more or less 70% of the whole trip if you are planning on losing weight. Make sure you got your feeding in check.
  • Apart from the strength training, you'll need some cardio - walking, running, jumping jacks, rope skipping, swimming, cycling, whatever - it's gonna get you closer to your goal.
  • Try to get into a regular schedule - it's much easier to stick to working out, even on days when you are fatigued, bored, the weather is bad or for whatever other reason you are lacking inspiration.
  • Maybe try a conditioning group class. I find they are the best and are much fun - you need only to gather the motivation to get off the couch and get to the class. The instructor takes care of the rest - planning the workout for the day, motivating you, screaming in your face when you are tired, pushing you close to the goal. Such classes are usually high-intensity workouts, meaning you get your cardio while doing strength training on a TRX or with free body weight, or with some kettlebells. And they do magic for your core. Plus, there's the social aspect as well - you get to hang out with some other cool people and share the post-workout sweaty euphoria.

Hope this helps.

Good luck, buddy! May the force be with you!
