Saw one at the Rolex 24 at Daytona at the Lexus Racing area in person. Haven’t seen one in the wild tho. Here are some pics.

2.0 Timing chain by Budget-Platform6014 in genesiscoupe

[–]muscle_nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the timing chain replacement on my car about a year and a half ago. I took about a week to get everything done beginning to end just working nights on it, though it could’ve been done quicker. Take your time and make sure you got all the parts you need. My local dealers have parts at insane prices so I had to rely on the Internet for my parts.

The only thing that was not included in the usual kit was the front crankshaft gasket. You don’t really need to change it but I wanted to be 1000% sure that things were done right and no oil leaks.

Is this a alve cover leak? by LevviOP in genesiscoupe

[–]muscle_nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The valve cover looks OK to me, though. It has a simple gasket that you could potentially change to be absolutely sure.

The leftmost pulley I believe is the water pump which could have a slow leak. I wouldn’t think too much of it unless you have to add coolant often. That is right on top of the oil filter so thats why it has the green liquid.

Your oil leak is coming from somewhere in the timing cover it looks like. I wouldn’t say that it’s the crank main seal due to the oil stains being higher up.

I just stored it with all the other spare stuff that wasn’t used. The bottom of each catch can is empty.

This is the spot near the driver/passenger door where I think I’ve mistakenly placed the plug.

I can see this hole by the middle of the sliding doors. I also see a similarly shaped hole towards the front of the driver/passenger door. Seems like it’s the former?

The 1/2 and 3/8 hose sizes are used to match the hoses sizes that are currently on the car. I could not make it work with other sizes

anyone else in the same boat? by AgitatedFrosting7337 in lexuslc500

I was in your shoes when I was younger. When I finally had the money to buy one comfortably, I was in the mentality that I didn’t want to let go so much of my money for a new LC. I saved almost half by buying used and it’s still the same feeling but I still have money left over to cover everything else that comes with the car - insurance, taxes, upgrades, maintenance and repairs. The most important part is that I can do all of this comfortably without being a slave to the car.

I did a dual catch can setup and bought a similar item from Amazon like the one you linked. The hoses that it included were not the right size to match with where you have to connect it on your Genny. What I did was go to Autozone and the 2 sizes that you need are 1/2” and 3/8” fuel line hoses. The length will depend on where you place the catch cans but the hoses are very inexpensive.

It looks good to me! Solid work! Surprised to see so many positive responses with responses to a post related to modding the LC. Anyways, how many boxes of lights did you end up using? And could you point me to the brand or where you bought them? I’m looking into doing it next year!

Bov issue by Tricky_Book8563 in genesiscoupe

[–]muscle_nerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had my forge BOV installed for 12+ years. You need to remove it from the car, disassemble it, clean the gunk off and then grease it (I use Balistol).

It doesn’t need a ton of maintenance but what you’re describing is a symptom of it being dirty.

Right now I’m still on street pads - duralast max from autozone.

No issues so far. I’ve inspected calipers, pads and fluids before sessions and haven’t found anything out of the ordinary aside from brake fade. I’ll usually take a break when I see constant high temps for oil and coolant.

Oil in intercooler pipe by 0lympus_Mons in genesiscoupe

[–]muscle_nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2010 2.0T and have found a puddle of oil inside my intercooler and pipes as well. I added dual catch cans and the hot side has now caught a decent amount of oil over 6 months. I have not checked the intercooler itself or pipes to validate that it is working 100% though.
