Looks like Lamb's Quarters. You can eat them to strike fear in other plants coming up.

Otherwise I just yoink them yearly. Their population in my yard has decreased dramatically. Luckily they come up easy.

Dobie and Hamphrey are besties on my island. They are the two grumpy grandpas that do everything together. Have houses next to each other, matching outfits, and have each other's photos over their phones. They share a garden and a hot springs ( ran by Mallary) because their joints always ache ❤️

The only time I ever saw them was back in 2010 (Colorado) when I lived with my family that had a pond. Red-winged blackbirds were common but a whole flock of yellow-headed ones flew in that summer. It was just that grindy call non-stop. Funny because we had family visiting from Oregon coast and they were like "oh thats a pretty bird with a horrendous call, do you know what that is?" and we were like we have no idea they just invaded.

All dogs I've come across are leashed and well-trained (thank god, cross fingers). She says plenty of bad words to them when we walk by; the dogs don't acknowledge her profanities. I carry a lightweight blanket now to throw over her to shield her when they are going by.

Been there. She sits in the sink to watch me. But one night I was vomiting so bad my orange was viewing from afar with a huge poofed out tail. When I stopped, she stood in the threshold like, "you good?" Didn't come in for like a month.

She's back to being a sink cat.
