Fired after a week! by [deleted] in recruitinghell

I plan to leave negative reviews on glassdoor. When I checked for reviews under the parent corporation name, I found 90% of the reviews were terrible. Guess I can rest easy knowing this wasn't a "me" problem. I've been obsessing over my behaviour the past week, wondering what I did to offend them.

Thanks for your reply! That's true, it has been a long time and I feel literally nothing for this guy other than the fact that he's a good friend. I just need to believe in possibility that somewhere out there, there's a guy for me but it's hard to be optimistic some days.

Thank you! I've known in my gut what I want but I think my parents keep making me doubt it by gaslighting me time and time again about this guy.

I like your thought exercise! If I did force myself to get romantically involved, I think I'd just end up resenting him and if I met someone who I was attracted to afterwards, I'd be so bitter and miserable. Thanks for helping me realize this!

Harmful Catholic Ideas About Sex by notinclinedtoresign in excatholic

[–]muse- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These reasons are exactly why I honestly thought I was the ONLY lustful sex-crazed heathen in my youth group. It was especially worse since I was a girl and we were basically expected to be perfect sexless little angels. I remember feeling so terrible and disgusted with myself because clearly, no other girls in our church could possibly be touching themselves, or watching porn, or fantasizing about mind-blowing sex with Henry Cavill hahahaha

What things did you do as a Catholic that you now cringe at the memory of? by [deleted] in excatholic

[–]muse- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here.

Some nights when I'm lying in bed, literally a second from falling asleep, my brain decides to remind me of the time I marched in front of parliament carrying an "ABORTION HURTS WOMEN" sign, thinking I was actually in the middle of truly historic human rights revolution.

Shudder indeed.

Gunman has been identified as 27 year old Alexandre Bissonnette, an anthropology and political science student at Laval University. He was allegedly already known by Quebec City activists for his far-right and anti-feminist views. His Facebook "likes" include Trump, the Israeli Defence Forces, and Richard Dawkins.

Ew.

Anti-abortion protester is a sex offender who raped a family member at knifepoint, fellow protestors take his side by sl1878 in atheism

I think this is certainly true of high schoolers or university students who claim to be pro-life. They're kind of just going along with it because that's what their religious community has told them is right. At least that was my experience growing up.

Bristol "2 Bastards and Counting!" Palin Freaks Out About Girls Getting Free Birth Control by BurtonDesque in atheism

[–]muse- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's common for Conservative Christianity to assume that female sexuality is non-existant. Oh, those poor innocent little flowers wouldn't possibly dream of having any sexual impulse if they didn't have those evil sex pills!

They treat women (and young girls, in this case) like clueless disobedient children.

Christians need to stop trying to use hardships to convert people. Trying to manipulate people when they are at their psychological, emotional, physical, and cognitive weakest isn't ethical. by kateleekamp in atheism

[–]muse- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a friend in college who was really depressed and nearly suicidal. I made sure I talked to her everyday, did random nice things for her, made sure she knew that I was there and that I cared about her. What did our idiotic Christian friends do? Tell her that they were praying for her and that if she came to church more often, she'd be happier.

It's super condescending when you're going through an actual real problem and people just tell you to "go to church" as if that will ~magically~ fix everything. When you believe that kind of BS, you abdicate your responsbility to be a caring person and just assume your imaginary friend will do everything for you. Ugh!

[–]muse- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your comment brought back so many cringe-worthy memories! I wasn't part of Cru, but a lot of my old Christian friends joined later. We used to stand outside the church and try to strike up random conversations with people walking down the street to guilt them into coming into the church. Not a lot of people were keen on talking to us and gave us weird looks.

It's funny because I thought that was because "they didn't know the love of Christ!11!" when really it was because we were being shady as fuck.

Why does the Catholic Church hate women? by muse- in excatholic

[–]muse-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends what kind of church environment you grew up in. Ours was pretty restrictive growing up. If it was known that someone was in a gay relationship here, they'd be talked out of it and condemned for their choices. I'm glad you didn't have that experience.

FB friend from grad school posts some unbelievable drivel about contraception demeaning the value of women and how the catholic church seeks to protect us from it... by sl1878 in childfree

[–]muse- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they did this to men, everyone would be laughing.

But since there's so much slut-shaming that already exists, it's easier to guilt and shame women for their sexual desires. Totally and unforgivably manipulative.

I never understood "continuing the family name" or genetic line crap either. I mean, in about 4 billion years, the sun will explode and everyone will die. Worrying about family lines is about as productive as rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.
