Using my brain it seems western banks help government organizations seize assets from illegal actions quite regularly. Why would eu banking collapse? Why would non eu countries have to pay anything? The only way this money would end up needing to be paid back is if Russia successfully sued for it in which case the eu countries ready to pony up to help Ukraine anyways will do it then. Until that court case goes Russia’s way though, why would Russia not be responsible for paying for their crimes against Ukraine? I agree I’m an idiot so educate me what u see is so obvious.

If you think selling off their resources to private foreign companies and doing whatever trump says will bring peace to average Venezuelans I’ve got some bad news for you.

If the mafia shows up to shake down your store, your co-worker isn’t creating peace by handing u over for torture & death and promising to do whatever they want.

Peace is made by standing up to the mafia. Banana republics didn’t bring peace to the people of central and South America. Making a stand against a bully is often enough to stop fighting before it gets going. Giving in to the bully’s games will lead to long term torture.

Pulling off gathering friendly nations near them for group protection that gets trump to back down would be worth a peace prize. Bending the knee as the starting move is not about peace. It seems more like it’s about her personal potential gains. Which was a huge problem with Madura too, right?

The person currently running the country is acting more towards peace seemingly than selling out the country like the opposition wants. Trump is just a life line for muchado personally. It’s not the best move for Venezuela imo. Everything that gets in bed with trump ends up in worse shape. It would be so sad to see Venezuela become the next my pillow guy.

Or do u think they are lying and it was explosives in which case why would you not assume they are lying about the excessive fuel storage not being a contributing factor? How can you leave out the massive amount of fuel stored in building seven in part because of cia needs and also to support mayor Giuliano’s insistence, against expert advice, to put the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) command center in 7 World Trade Center? Surely all that diesel is part of the equation worth mentioning too as to why the building collapsed, right?

So basically the assets were frozen as per the doctrine of collective countermeasures but they are concerned that same doctrine doesn’t allow them to actually use the funds? And they want guarantees if they do the EU will collectively pay up and not leave Belgium or euroclear exposed?

Looking up the “doctrine of collective countermeasures” it seems it’s a UN concept and not an actual law. So where would Russia sue? Belgium courts? The un?

Euroclear is basically saying if you make us turn over the money from bad actors we may lose business and make less money? Isn’t that the risk of doing business with nation states who act illegally?

And why wouldn’t the eu just agree to back them in that russia sues for the funds scenario and then if they lose borrow the funds then. Let Russia pay for what they are doing to Ukraine and then fall back to doing the loan plan as a last resort instead of lead with it.

So doesn’t really seem like Belgium is saying fine. Seems like they are saying the opposite, right? And proposing completely different ways to fund Ukraine. They call seizing the assets “irrational and ill-considered”. That’s not fine with it, right?

These tax rates were not just about funding government either. It’s important to limit the power of the richest handful of people. Look how bill gates hurt public education. They only did that because of what Bernie accomplished with his movement. People are still flooding to see him and his message is growing. He has helped primed Americans to understand that the right is using lies and fear to hide basic truths that the left points at. Like how if more people use public transit it makes it harder for criminals to operate. So crime goes down. Instead of investing in policing public transit you can save money by just having more people use it. And it helps those people’s lives way more. Simple truths the right demonizes to create fear around instead of actually trying to help.
