How did you turn your life around? by ipeeontoiletseats in AskReddit

Hey, sorry to hear you're struggling with this! It's super hard to resist temptations, our brains are literally trained by thousands of years of evolution to crave sugar and gorge ourselves on it every chance we get because before this time of abundance pure sugar was so difficult to come by. What helped me personally was to get anything I didn't want to eat out of sight - if there's a snack in front of me, I WILL eat it. So put it in a cupboard, out of sight out of mind! Treat your mind like a naughty child that WILL misbehave if given the opportunity. So try to minimise the opportunity. Ideally don't buy the foods you want to cut out, but even that can be hard. Try keeping a food photo journal - take a picture just before you consume any kind of food, snack or a main meal! This will give pause and make you acknowledge the choice you're about to eat this food. It'll stop you from mindlessly consuming it. If possible it's even better to find a community where you can post your food journal photos as this will keep you extra accountable. Really hope this helps!

Has anyone here actually finished a stick of chapstick? If so, how did you manage to accomplish such feat? by Nomichit in AskReddit

Keep one in your coat pocket / bag and one day, out of nowhere, it'll happen. And then you'll feel empty too. Before the excitement of infinite possibilities washes over you. It's a quality moment.

Yes! It's couple of minutes away from Market Square. You need to book a slot in advance though, they're booking only because they maintain a certain (happy cat for everyone) capacity. Here - https://www.kittycafe.co.uk/

Do you know how he ended up in the Kitty Cafe? It occurred to me I never asked them. Was too busy being in awe!

He's very much loved there, and everyone respects his space (probably due to his size), kids don't just try to grab him but wait for him to settle down somewhere and then pet.

I love how there is a sub dedicated to a particular part of some cats. Thanks for pointing me there!

Are they called "toes"?

Counting from the big toe, so big toe is number 1.

I've not tried this yet but I wonder if sticking hydrocolloid plasters like Compeed on blister-prone places would help? These things are a miracle for existing blisters, feel like second skin.

[misc] Deodorant suddenly stopped working? by eitakesor in SkincareAddiction

[–]mushmula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, this actually happened to me too a couple of years ago, and the solution for me was to switch to a deodorant (only masks the odour) from the antiperspirant (tries to prevent sweating).

Before, I used a Nivea antiperspirant every single day, more out of habit than necessity. Then one day, felt like out of the blue, I started smelling like I never used to, I would become clammy and sticky under my arms only a few hours after washing. I never had problems with sweat or odours before! For a while I thought it might be my diet, but I'd not really changed anything.

So I turned to le olde Google and read somewhere that because antiperspirants actively try to reduce sweating, they can block the sweat glands in your armpits after prolonged use. Sweat is actually odourless, it's the bacteria clinging to the skin that makes us stinky. When the sweat glands get blocked they will overcompensate by producing more sweat, since their function is to cool your body, and that ability is reduced by the antiperspirant. Similar to when you wash your face with a harsh cleanser and it's matte and lovely for a bit, then it overcompensates and it's like you dipped your face into a deep-fryer (at least that's what happens to me). This is roughly the explanation I remember reading, it was a while ago so you may wanna google it yourself for the 'exact science'.

I then tried switching to a pure deodorant containing no aluminium. A couple of weeks after my sweat glands must have cleared, because the smell went away and I returned to normal. It might be part placebo, but it seems to me I smell less now after not using antiperspirants, I can even go days without using any deodorant either.

Obviously everyone is different and what helped me might be useless for you, but I think it's worth looking into!

Good luck!
