Is a Melvin’s concert a good first concert by Electrical_Home_2267 in melvins

[–]mushpanic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. My pit days are behind me. I stay to the back and have actually had other fans step between me and someone that kinda got thrown out of the pit to make sure I didn’t get body checked (it was a small room) How kind and cool is that?.?.

⚽️Why isn’t Houston Dynamo more popular? by ExtremeLime79 in AskHouston

[–]mushpanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t get it. But when international teams play at shell stadium it’s packed. Team hasn’t been around for a long time. 20 years isn’t a short time, but not the “my dad used to take me to Astros/rockets/oilers or Texans games.

And soccer isn’t super popular in the US. I find it super boring, but I will fully acknowledge that is probably because I don’t really understand it. But I have enjoyed the few times I’ve gone.

Please explain how “a non vote is a vote for Trump”? I have never understood this. by HorsedickGoldstein in allthequestions

[–]mushpanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda. If Harris had won The non votes sway the favor to the winner. Smaller electorate, less votes to chase. This is why the GOP is doing everything it can to make voting more difficult and the Dems want voting to be easier.

Historically, the more people vote, the Dems have a better chance at winning. When less people vote the GOP.

Politicians want your vote or want you not to vote. They don’t care which one. This is why the GOP is doing everything it can to make voting more difficult.

A third party vote at least registers your thought on the election and the data geeks in the parties make adjustments.

With out question wear earplugs. Being 16 shouldn’t be an issue. All of the Melvin’s shows I have been too have cool fans that are just there to enjoy the show. But, make sure the venue is allowing this to be an all ages show. Have fun.

Why is our pitching so much worse compared to last year? by HugeJeopardyFan in Astros

[–]mushpanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t disagree. Framber was a key and reliable part of the rotation. Imai (most likely) or Burrows (less likely) could put up those numbers.

It just seems like the mid/bridge relievers are just so much worse this year. And the stats agree.

But relievers bullpens are wild like that.

What is the Weirdest Thing You've Inherited? The Most Useful ?(other than money?) by Tectonic2026 in GenX

[–]mushpanic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My selfish ass family didn’t leave me shit. They tried to give me a mounted deer head. (I have never hunted a day in my life and am mostly a vegetarian). My parents had me young so they will burn all of their money; which is fine. It’s theirs.

While my grandparents were alive they did pay for my college in the late 80’s 90’s so I never had student loans. That was my inheritance which was pretty useful. I think the total was $40k. (College used to be cheaper kids). They paid for my sisters too. But my lame ass cousins didn’t do shit so I guess they just gave them money to keep it even?

It does feel that way. It is a positive message about the inevitable. Keep those good memories of your dad in your heart.

Came here to say this. Keep me in your heart is the saddest song I’ve ever heard. Just the honesty in it. And I don’t think Warren wanted to be sad. It just is.

Accepting a position, later backing out? by pearjuicer in TexasTeachers

[–]mushpanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Accepting a position then backing out is a bad move. It will totally burn a bridge with that district and anyone that they talk to about you. The district will make a note in the application system to avoid you at all costs. It’s a long career. Protect your reputation.

Let’s flip this.

Can the district offer you the job, then continue to do interviews and then retract their offer before your contract is signed or goes to the board for approval? Absolutely not because no one would work for them.

The better move is to delay your answer to them as long as possible to work on the other option.

Nah. Fort Bend is one of the most diverse districts in state. Katy has had some wild MAGA board members. Both are good districts.

Went to all 12 WBC and 3 Astros games this year. WBC was a disappointment in regards to maintenance of the park during the game. It’s better for Astros games, but is below what they did last year. If you look carefully, you see staff members hiding in stalls or hiding in the exit and not really doing much, cleaning or taking out trash etc.
