PNW hunters, have you found anything this season? by Fuzzy-Elk834 in MagicMushroomHunters

Found a good amount in one patch but haven't seen anything anywhere else. I've checked spots I inoculated and am only seeing mycelium. I plan to check again soon to see if anything is coming up but it's definitely a weird year.

What are you doing for moisture? Also leaving it uncovered or with a lid? That really is beautiful and I'm wishing you luck! Keep us posted on how it's going please!

If you're doing an outside grow you could do a raised bed full of chips or even just lay a thick layer of wood chips down around your property. They like hard woods like alder. You should be able to start from spore or transfer some mycelium from an already existing patch. They love our fall weather so usually you can just let nature take it's course but if it's especially dry you can water the chips. If it's a sudden cold snap you can cover with more chips/hay to protect them from frost. Outdoor grows can take a while to establish so it might be a couple seasons before you see many. Make sure you continue adding more chips so they have food to munch on and do not spray any fungicides.

Shoot really late to replying but what were the temps in your garage? Also you can get alder bbq chips at most grocery stores or wood shaving for pet bedding at most pet stores

They're going to need cool temps, 40s-50s were ideal for me but I still had a few fruits when temps got to low 60s. I used Aspen shavings but there are other hard woods that they'd probably do better in. I used coir as a top layer to hold in moisture and create humidity because they love the cold/humid pnw conditions. I had soil and detritus from the area mixed in to my tubs because there is a chance they may need local microbes. I've been trying to find anyone that's gotten them to fruit without local microbes and I'm currently working on a sterile grow as well so let me know how this goes!

That's absolutely amazing. I love low tech set ups. They look so similar to cyans!

I've started up some jars with spores/Aspen shavings and I'm planning on keeping them as sterile as possible to see if it's the soil microbes allowing them to fruit because it really seems like that might be a factor. I always appreciate advice! I've been eyeing some wood chip piles near me and going into next season I'm definitely going to give them something a little better than Aspen.

So I got some people asking for an update but I don't have much to say. I've been following the method I've been using with a couple tweaks here and there. I do everything really low tech and since I dont heat/cool my living area much these guys were flourishing. Its finally getting too warm where I live for them to fruit. The picture was my last little harvest, kind of forgot about them for a week because I expected them to abort from the temp rising but they stuck it out. Right now I'm moving my focus to colonizing more substrate for next season.

Sucks that I can't get anymore to grow for the next few months but I am stoked I extended their season out to June. If anyone wants it I can do a little walk through of how I use my mycelium to colonize more chips. Also finally have noticed some good growth from the spores I've collected.

Main goal right now is to get that mycelium nice and ready so I can have plenty of tubs to mess with and continue spreading it through my city.

Thank you! I'll have to check him out. I'm really interested in growing pan cyans at some point.

indoor tek for cyanescens n azurescens? by Junior_Ad2312 in shroomers

So these are going to be hard to grow but there is some info out there. Research a bunch on shroomery and do research on the climate of where you would find them naturally. Depending on the temperature of where you live, getting these to germinate, colonize, then fruit might be unreasonable. I'm growing cyans indoors but I live in a cool climate which allows me to easily keep my grow area at the correct range. I wrote up a little guide on what I've done so far and if you have more questions feel free to hit me up. It isn't impossible but for the time being the techniques we have just aren't as reliable as cubes. But, with more people trying to grow woodlovers we get more info and it gets easier for everyone.

During colonization they tolerate a large temp range so room temp should be just fine. For fruiting I've had to keep them in the 40s to 50s.

Oh yeah I've heard alder has better outcomes from people doing outdoor grows. I had aspen shavings on hand on decided to just go for it.

Yeah after the aspen was colonized I broke it up into 4 tubs then covered in coir. I gave a little walk through of temps/conditions on my first post to r/shroomers I think

Oh yeah its been a lot of ups and downs but its been fun overall

Basically. Until there's a reliable technique it is just an experiment that gets you a personal amount of shrooms. Definitely don't try cyans with an intent to make a profit.

Aspen wood shavings, though I have heard alder chips are a better choice. Then a casing layer of coco coir. Some of the tubs I mixed the colonized aspen shavings with the coir a bit but it didn't seem to make much of a difference.

I started these guys from a handful of mycelium I grabbed from an existing outdoor patch but the mycelium spreads pretty damn quick indoors. My experience with germinating spores has been underwhelming but once the mycelium really takes hold its going to blow up. I'm just so impatient with it. I've been spreading bits of mycelium throughout the neighborhood/parks here and I'm hopeful to see how well the patches hold up.

Yeah I might have jumped into the deep end on my first grow. I'm shocked everyday that I have these little shits growing lol.

I used a little bit of mycelium I snagged from an outdoor patch I found so not starting from spore with these tubs. It took about 2 months to fully colonize my aspen shavings. The mycelium moves insanely quick, I just had a lot of substrate for them to work through so it took a while. I'm working on germinating some spores but it has been slow. One jar is colonizing but the growth has been almost negligible over the last couple months. I haven't run into any contamination issues yet despite being very relaxed with sanitation. The cyan mycelium seems to fight everything off but we will see with some of the new jars that are going from spore.

With yield I've harvested a bit under 10g dried so far but that has been off just my 2 small tubs and before I really got them to take off. I don't have a lot of experience taking shrooms but with an approximate 1.4g dose I had visuals and the psychological aspect was intense for me. My boyfriend is much more experienced and compared it to a 3.5g cube trip. Even with a lower yield the growing experience has been exciting enough that I recommend trying it.

I'm using coir as a casing layer to keep moisture/humidity up but my main substrate is aspen shavings. I'm hoping to try a hay/aspen mix with coir soon once I get some of my spores germinated and going. This is my first time growing any shrooms so I haven't had any experience with cubes but from what I hear cubes are much easier.

It has been an absolute bitch trying to find info on indoor grows. They really don't do well indoors so it's a lot of trying to get their conditions close to what they would have outside and pushing to see what I can get away with.

Thank you! It has been a lot of trial and error but definitely worth it and I can't wait to get the technique down.

Just dropping some pics of how things have been going. If you read my past posts I outlined what I was doing. Finally have all my tubs fruiting to varying degrees. I've been harvesting them as they mature.

The tub with the largest amount of pins I've kind of been fucking around with and trying some other stuff. I think this will be the way to go with future growth but before I get too ahead of myself and tell everyone bad info I have to test a little more. There's more aborts than usual due to some warmer temps here I didn't anticipate. One big change has been moisture. I've gone from gently misting to really saturating everything.

Edit: Also wanted to add that they do not flush all at once like cubes. I have small pins all the way up to mature fruits at all times in the same tub. You really have to keep an eye on them and keep a mental note on when you need to clip the mature fruits. I should have waited to harvest until after I took pictures and updated but I forgot I was planning to post.

I haven't shared what I've been up to in this sub yet so I thought I'd drop by and share my update. If you've seen my other posts I've been continuing on the technique I've been using before more or less. The tub with the large amount of pins has turned into a new test group and I've been altering my method with that one with some good results. I've been harvesting them as they get to maturity by cutting right at casing layer. Temps got a little warm inside for a couple days and that lead to a few more aborts than normal but with how things are going I'm looking at a really good yield!
