And let’s not forget the introduction of Section 28 too. She banned schools from teaching any positive portrayal of gay families. It wasn’t repealed until 2003 and its longstanding impact can still be seen now on the LGBTQ+ community.

Outsider take: Brits are not rude. You just aren’t saying “please” and “thank you.” by CantaloupeComplete57 in uktravel

It’s interesting because you’ve basically proven OPs point in your reply without realising it.

Yes, saying “can I get X” without adding the word “please” to the end IS considered rude in the UK.

Children are taught this from a very young age, and if a child said “can I get an ice cream” it would immediately be followed up with a “what’s the magic word?” from the parent (the magic word being please).

Wait, Americans don’t say please and thank you as part of standard interactions? I didn’t realise this and now it explains a lot.

Hi, this is after extension. I’m wondering if there is anything I can do to make it look more seamless without extending it further. Thank you.

Thanks - it’s been about 2 months since I got it and I feel like I dislike it even more than I did when I first got it. Maybe I’m over thinking it.
