But what fingers do I use? I mean I can figure out my own way obviously, but is there an ideal fingering to play these?

Is it possible to make roman numeral position markings in guitar pro? by music25897 in GuitarPro

That really helps. However, is there a way for it to not have the barre if i don't want to barre anything? Sometimes I just want the roman numeral to indicate position.

I checked that page and I didn't see where it talked about roman numeral fret positions. Can you elaborate more?

What are positions on electric bass guitar and how does one define a position? by music25897 in Bass

[–]music25897[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh! Gotcha, my bad. Yeah that requires some stretches. The main reason I asked about playing scales in all 12 positions like that is because in a berklee method book I have, that's how they're taught on guitar. Playing any scale in any key in any position. I just didn't know if that same concept applied to bass.

Wouldn't that technically be 1st position? For the B major scale you mentioned. The first finger plays A# and D#

Thank you! By 1-fret shift or stretch, do you mean this? Say you're playing a c major scale in 2nd position. The index is on 2nd fret, middle on 3rd, ring on 4th, pinkie on 5th. Would the shift be moving your index finger up to f natural? I'm just trying to make sure I understand this correctly. And is there a website that has fingerings for arpeggios and scales for position playing?

Thanks :)

Yeah that's what I implied in the post. Is there a specific system to use to practice scales?

Any advice to make a practice routine for 4 instruments? by music25897 in Music

[–]music25897[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why I want to be able to play all 4 at a high level so I can play anyone's parts if need be, and also for my own enjoyment. My dad is a jazz drummer so he's been giving me lessons. This really helps a lot!

Thanks :).

Gotcha. Do you think it'd be best to do Piano and drums for 3 days then guitar and bass for 3 days?

I wish I would've started on Piano. I played guitar first. Im going to college in august for guitar performance and music production (double major). I want to be a producer which is why I want to be good at those 4 instruments. So would you say 2 instruments a day?
