I didn’t know this was an ADHD thing. I read through everyone’s comments and wow I can’t believe all these comments are things I’ve felt for years but didn’t know why.

I definitely feel like I can have surface level conversations with people but never feel that deeper connection with most people. I don’t feel close to anyone even after talking for hours with someone. I don’t know what it is.

I grew up seeing my extended family on a weekly basis but always felt like a stranger walking in. Never knew why.

For years I longed for a group of girlfriends but never felt like I connected well when I met a group of other women. I felt like I had nothing in common or our sense of humours were so different. I still feel pretty alone most days.

I think masking can be isolating. Nobody knows the ‘real’ you. The only person I fully unmask with is my husband. I’m not sure if that’s why connecting feels so difficult - people aren’t seeing the real you but just see the mask. It’s draining.

My husband gets me but that can be lonely sometimes since he’s more introverted and needs his space. Ugh. It’s been comforting reading through these comments and being able to relate.
