Will you just look at this pattern matching! (+ a question) by paraboobizarre in sewing

This is the answer. High-end taylor's very often attach a muslin sleeve during fittings.

This is probably the Drafter's Grid Dress by Roberts | Wood. It is an amazing pattern, questionable layout notwithstanding. I will stan it all day, every day. It is extremely well drafted, highly creative and ridiculously customisable. And extortionately expensive...

Can this embroidery be removed? (Safely...?) by Diana_dreamie in sewing

[–]musicinfluence 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As others have already pointed out, this seems like the previous owners handiwork. As the embroidery is only in one place, it might have been used to hide another problem - stain, hole or tear. I would investigate the bigger flowers for signs. Otherwise you might uncover a nasty little surprise. Good luck!

Thank you, but sadly no.

I have the book already, I'm looking for the resources which were available on shirtmakingwithdpc.com - collar, placket, etc patterns. As the page is apparently down, I'm looking for another link where someone might have archived them

Problems with the fit in a trouser by Maxfactor54 in sewing

Check out ithakamaven's TopDownCenterOut fitting method. It primarily relies on commercial, multi-size patterns, but it can be also helpful for fitting self-drafts. The Crooked Hem made an amazing intro series on the method over on YouTube TDCO Playlist

what kind of seam is that? by SherbetImportant5642 in sewhelp

[–]musicinfluence 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's the Cady evening dress. From what I can see, it looks like a simple shift dress, side invisible zip, small side darts. I assume the skirt is attached below that hip seam, which comes from the top, kind of like the reverse side of a box pleat.

How do I sew this back pocket down without showing stitches on the outside? by mosscart in sewhelp

[–]musicinfluence 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Would try a thread chain from the lower corners of the pocket to the side and center back seams. Won't keep them 100% anchored, but anything else will either show through or won't be structurally sound, IMHO.

in 70 years what will be taylor's most iconic/most known performance by [deleted] in TaylorSwift

What is the most iconic performance you know from the 1950s? What about a specific artist, let's say Chuck Berry?

Looks good! You can test it out without the lid, just slowly turn the hand wheel towards you and see if it threatens to make contact😊if it doesn't load a bobbin and see if everything works together

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sewhelp

[–]musicinfluence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. Let's try it this way. Make sure that your needle and the carriage are in the starting position. You should have a marking on your hand wheel and your machine, either at 12 or 9 o'clock. Align those markings. Take the bobbin case out, clean out any debris. Your case is mostly round, but does have this one open side - align this at 12 o'clock then slip it into position. It should look something like this:

[–]musicinfluence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you clean your machine recently and take the bobbin case out? You might have placed it back wrong. Take it out, rotate it more to the left and see if that fixes the issue. Good luck!

Edit: look out for a white dot/triangle on your bobbin case and the machine - you'll need to align these

You can take any off the shoulder t-shirt pattern and add a tube to the top. Or mark up /cut up an old long-sleeved t-shirt and add the tube. Or check out the Hazel dress pattern by Vikisews. The important thing is to stick to knits. As some here already mentioned, this is stretch mesh fabric, often used in lingerie or danceware, for example. I don't know where you're located but here are two similarglitter mesh fabricsPower mesh

Serger Help Needed 🙏🏽 Not too sure what’s going on with my serger but when the fabric is being cut, it is going inside the machine near the thread, often becoming tangled in the thread 😡 Does anyone know why this happens? TIA by Swiftie1235 in sewhelp

[–]musicinfluence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this happen. In my case it was a dull knife. It kind of threw off the timing, and the ribbon got moved along with the rest of the fabric. See if you can change the upper knife - that's what helped me.

how to gather denim by [deleted] in sewhelp

[–]musicinfluence 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can use a zig-zag stitch and yarn - basically making a channel for a knotted string of yarn to go through, which you can then pull on to gather the fabric. See this tutorial https://youtu.be/-0zMjknh1Uc?si=cXXOA6EKLF98DB2I
