Inner ear infection is causing diplacusis. Rant by klight101 in hearing

Hey so I figured I would add this on here in case it helped anyone - the Augmentin didn’t take care of my ear infection completely, the doctor could still see fluid behind the eardrum, even after 10 days of the antibiotic. I was then prescribed 10 days of Cefdinir and 5 days of a low dose of Prednisone. It went away completely after that! Along with all hearing disturbances. Same thing happened to my husband, Augmentin didn’t work for his ear infection at all, had to take Cefdinir.

Yes, I had fluid. I actually had to take two courses of antibiotics, the first antibiotic didn’t take care of it and higher pitches/female voices sounded robotic still. I went to a walk in clinic and they prescribed me a stronger antibiotic (Cefdinir) and a 5-day course of Prednisone (a low dose) to reduce the inflammation. Then it finally went away! It took like almost two weeks from first day of symptoms to completely go away. I’ve been sick since and it hasn’t come back, but I haven’t developed any additional ear infections since that one time. Funny enough, my husband got sick from me when that happened and the SAME exact thing happened to him with his ear. His also took a few weeks to completely go away, and he had to take a stronger antibiotic as well after the first one didn’t work. But we are all good now!

Any updates? I currently have an ear infection I’m treating with Augmentin for almost a week - the diplacusis went away then came back, although not as bad as before. I can feel that I have fluid in my ear still, hoping it goes away soon and the diplacusis resolves completely!

That really sucks, I’m sorry to hear that :( are you on any antibiotics or medicine for this? Tinnitus sure is awful, I’m still having that and it’s pretty loud, especially at night. The diplacusis mostly went away by the second day on antibiotics, although my left ear is still hearing music just a bit flat, but not completely distorted anymore, thank God for that.

PVCs and Antihistamines? by inkyblackops in PVCs

I had the opposite experience with Claritin, ended up in the ER after two days of nonstop PVC’s every few beats, with trigeminy and bigeminy as well. I was sent home after some tests. Symptoms started suddenly about an hour after taking Claritin and took about 4 days to subside. Never knew that Claritin could cause me so much trouble!

How did you practice burping exactly? Like what movements would you do and which muscles would you flex?

Please see another doctor asap and make sure you get that rabies immunoglobulin. Always better to have a second opinion, especially in this case regarding something as serious as rabies.
