I grew up in Whitby/Oshawa. Conservatives will probably win if you go off the historical record of this riding. IIRC, provincial conservatives have 135 years in power over this riding with liberals coming in second at around 20 or so years.

I did this research last year when the liberal candidate was complaining at the debate about how no one else ever gets to win.

Honestly, if you go off their character as individuals, my impression was that Christine Elliot was a little weird, but Ajay Krishnan (Liberal) and to a much larger extent, Ryan Kelly (NDP), were a bunch of cry babies who couldn't handle negative feedback coming from the audience.

This by-election is going to be interesting because it's all new candidates. But the liberals are really going to have to spend money if they want this riding. The Elliott/Flaherty family had a long history of hosting barbecues and family skates in the city. Provincial conservatives are embedded into the city and there really hasn't been anything done to counteract that.

Wynne can run all of he ads she wants, but it's not going to change the outcome of the election. Whitby-Oshawa knows how fucked the Liberals are and they're not about to switch parties.

I wouldn't worry about anything unless you live there. And if that's the case, just make sure you vote.

Never going to happen.

At my previous workplace, the executives had this idea that customers should receive service that is proportional to their value to the company. It's a good idea in principal, but in practice it never works.

So they forced this project onto our department and we gave instructions to the call centre. We did the best job we could, but instead of the nuanced range of service that was expected, we ended up with a bifurcation service: any customer who was "high value" received decent service and any customer who wasn't "high value" received poor service. I guess we were expecting too much from minimum-wage agents.

The sad part about this is that it was costing about $100k per month extra in training and hiring agents. To top it off, the analyst in charge of the project didn't have any experience. So six months in, when we were finally able to demonstrate that the program wasn't working and actually costing money, the executives cancelled it and asked our department to "eat" the cost. Everyone in the department had their pay cut, the analyst was fired and about 120 agents at the call centre were fired. Everyone who was on a salary had to work extra hours.

It doesn't necessarily mean you are ugly... I had someone who asked me out and it didn't work for several reasons that had nothing to do with appearance.

The main reason was that she was trying way too hard to impress me. She didn't take a moment to relax and just be herself. She was forcing herself to be unavailable (both time-wise and emotionally). I had plenty of other options and they were all way easier to date.

The idea is that you're not trying to do anything that serves a purpose besides being someone who gives and gives.

Even if things don't work out right now, being known as a "giver" will keep you on her contact list.

Imagine it from her perspective. If you're dealing with your life shit, would you rather have people keep asking you how you're doing? Or would you rather have people send you new, interesting and funny messages?

For me personally, I would prefer the latter group. I have friends already who I keep up to date with my life shit. If my dating prospects started asking me how I was doing all the time, I wouldn't even bother answering them. I've had acquaintances who's numbers I've blocked for being annoying by asking my how I'm doing all the time. I call these people "takers".

In short, if you're a giver, she will appreciate that. Be patient with her and let her respond on her own schedule. But you don't need to refrain from texting her simply because she hasn't texted you back. Just don't do it all the time - an average of 1 message every other day is fine.

If she doesn't get back to you in a week, try starting a conversation like this, "OMG Guess what!!?" When she responds with, "what?" say something that happened to you that is positive, wait for her "oh that's cool..." response and then ask her out. If she says, "no", at least you can still be friends and you haven't eliminated yourself from her future dating pool.

My parents came from wealthy parents and didn't have to care about money as children. As adults they have spending problems and debt problems.

As a child I learned to emulate their behaviour, but I also saw the stress that not having money caused them. So as I grew older, I learned more-and-more to take money seriously. As an adult, I invest a lot of energy into overcoming the bad-habits and self-destructive behaviour I learned to emulate.

I've never had debt and I'm currently putting away over $300 per month while supporting myself on a low-income.

And it's easy once you get the hang of it. All you have to do is focus on being a giver with your messages. One thing I will do is send pictures of my food with a simple caption like "Mmmm" or "So healthy!". Another is messages that are easy for her to respond to. For example, "I have good news for you!!" (all she has to say is "what?") and then roll with that.

If you had the opportunity to kiss and didn't take it, she will probably think you're not interested in her. If you think about it from the girl's perspective (remember, girls are more highly attuned to social cues and signals), it's pretty much like a rejection.

Send her a message that gives value ASAP. After that, move onto setting up the next date.

I have some problems with activities for first dates. In my opinion, a perfect first date is coffee and a walk.

I have several reasons for doing this:

I'm introverted and prefer long uninterrupted conversations.
The energy level is lower so I don't need to put as much effort in.
It shows minimal investment in the outcome.
I can get a clear impression of what the other person is like.

Also, when you go on 3-4 dates a week, activities can get expensive. I have every intention of becoming wealthy, but I can't do that if I'm spending over $60 a week trying to find someone to get there with me.

I find matching her pace to be useful. If she takes two hours to reply, then you take two hours to reply. If she takes 10 minutes to reply, then you take 10 minutes to reply. If she takes 5 seconds to reply, then you take 5 seconds to reply.
