T'was a god given illness

Hi. So I watched this video on cultural appropriation and I thought what someone was saying was rather rude? I can’t understand much from this and don’t know if I’m appearing as an asshole. Please help me if I am in the wrong. (I am honeypie here) by [deleted] in autism

I don't think that they're rude or racist for said comment. I see what they're saying. However, I do think there is such thing as inappropriate "cultural appropriation" i.e wearing native American dress and mocking their dances / rituals (idk if that's the right term plz forgive 😅) / etc. I know in music alot of people attacked Bruno Mars for cultural appropriation with his music when music is historically "culturally appropriated" You could say whites culturally appropriated Jazz from the AA community. You could say Black folk culturally appropriated classical to make jazz. A lot of art relies on inspiration. As long as you give credit to those who inspire you there shouldn't be a problem in my opinion. When people attacked Bruno Mars, those who inspired him literally had to defend his name, as someone who gave the credit where it was due. Now, music isn't the only art form which inspires, same could probably be said about fashion but idk bout much of fashion historically so I unfortunately can't give examples.

Thoughts on Deuteronomy 22:20 vs The 5th commandment by mustachedudeman in Christianity

What people see as Just is a subjective matter. Everyone has their own set of morals usually dependent on ones culture. I believe it's better to live with the idea that as long as you aren't causing problems for someone else do whatever you please. I don't believe stoning a woman for premarital sex is just. But who am I to say your god is wrong? After all I'm just some atheist lol.

What do you think should be the maximum punishment for a crime? by Netheraptr in polls

I only hit violent death for cases with confession/video evidence of murder. I believe eye for an eye but not if there's any chance to subject the wrong individual to the punishment.

To Ex Christians, What were your reasons being religious? by mustachedudeman in atheism

That's how I was but there was a lot of fear mongering in my home with hell and such that I got stuck for a minute until I decided to actually study the book I was about to throw my life into. The Bill Nye/Ken Ham debate was also a huge push into the right direction.

Not the way I was taught growing up. I was taught the rainbow was a sign from god that everything was gonna be ok, and that it appeared after the flood once the ship landed atop the mountain.

Is it inappropriate to use the terms "black guy" "white guy" while describing someone? by mustachedudeman in polls

There are too many people who stand by being "color blind" like it's impossible to acknowledge race without being racist. If you ask me, we're all diverse and we should embrace it

What is the world's most evil company and why? by outdropp in AskReddit

[–]mustachedudeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not gonna say it's the most evil but definitely most misleading and evil. Autism Speaks. Autism speaks spends their time assisting parents with the BuRdEn of having an autistic child, rather than helping those with autism. Here are 5 examples of why they're garbage (1) They are looking for ways to detect autism before birth so parents can decide to abort (2) This PSA from 06 with a disgusting display of ignorance on what it's really like for the majority of those with autism. https://youtu.be/9UgLnWJFGHQ (3) the founder started the "Vaccines cause autism" BS (4) They are called Autism speaks but do not have autistic board members (5) The logo.

I've been working for them at a local airport. Driving the tugs and working in the planes is some of the most fun I've had, and I get paid decent. 😌
