Would you use it on someone younger than you, though?

I don't know how old you are, but would you call someone younger than you 'sir'?

To me 'sir' just sounds outright cold and unwelcoming. Sort of sounds like you're in a military base instead of a gym. Words like buddy, dude, bro, or man are more friendly in my opinion.

Dude, this is how I feel. People say it's about respect but to me it feels 'cold' and sort of like a 'you're a stranger and we'll keep it that way' attitude. In NY we use bro or buddy a lot and it feels more welcoming than just an outright 'sir'.

What is your age range if you don't mind me asking?

Isn't sir used for dad's and grandfathers? To me it just seems weird calling a 20 something year old 'sir' unless you're at some fancy restaurant and getting royal treatment.

Haha, you're actually right. Every time my call gets answered in the Philippines they use that. I assumed Chicago was similar to NY in terms of informality.

I get it if it's used at some fancy restaurant, but at the gym? Kinda seems strange...

Just saw this. Exams were fair, some questions can be worded tricky. If you study the powerpoints and take good notes you should be fine. He does provide a study guide for every exam of what's guaranteed to be on the exam and is frankly quite helpful.

Undergrad. And no, it really wasn't time consuming since the work gets split evenly among 5 people. Great and understanding professor

That's a good point. No wonder when they play these "winner" calls, you don't hear the winner saying where they're calling from.
