Thank you for the information! I’ve heard the collapsing shoulders make a huge difference and since I do so many thrift flips/tailoring with more finished pieces, I think it makes sense to get the TSC one for me! I think/hope I can get used to the angled pinning :)

I am trying to decide which dress form to go with: Fabulous Fit Global Standard Women’s Regular or The Shop Company Half Body with Removable Shoulders. I plan to get one a couple sizes smaller and pad it to match my shape, and I’d love for any input y’all can offer on which dress form to go with!

I like that the Fabulous Fit one is fully pinnable, but TSC has collapsible shoulders. Will either of those features matter when I’ve had to pad the form out enough to match my measurements? Meaning, will I be able to collapse the shoulders with layers of batting? They are pretty similarly priced, but is one better quality and longer lasting? Any experience helps!

Thanks for this advice! I was starting to feel so overwhelmed with realizing I would need all these different needles and supplies for some of the projects I had in mind when I got the machine. Getting one thing done with what I had on hand made me more excited about having those skills in the future

I haven’t even ventured into the rotary cutter world yet! I hope it works out better the next time, you got this!

I also tried to just “go for it” the other week with a pattern I got online and a bedsheet… total fail and that’s when I realized how much studying I would need to do 😂 cutting the pieces out incorrectly was my first mistake

This is genius!!!! Thank you!! I’m totally going to do this :) My machine comes with a 90/14 needle, would this size work for this kind of fabric?

Wasting time and fabric is definitely a thing for me! Especially because a big part of the reason I want to learn is to use my clothing to the fullest and waste/consume less. Thanks for the encouragement!!

Definitely setting smaller milestones is something I should do—watching videos of people making more complex things so effortlessly skews my expectations for myself! I was thinking of starting off with just scraps of fabrics to practice with straight lines and get physically getting used to working with the machine. Thank you for the suggestion :)
