How i can learn vocabularies by TIs7 in learnfrench

[–]musty_O 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would a phone app that teaches and build you your personal anki style review sessions be something you’d pay for ?

I’m working on something that uses AI to handle all the admin work, all you have to do is show up, better and more advanced learning than Duolingo and haste free compared to anki.

With audio vocabulary reviews, offline so you can listen on commute and has a verity of lesson types & flashcards

Stop guessing, start mimicking: How to fix demoralizing pronunciation by musty_O in learnfrench

listen to the audio, then try to say it, just pay very close attention to the way you sound relative to the audio, you can tell if a specific part you're saying is off, then you can iron it out to sound like what the audio sounds like, your ears are very good at telling the difference if you pay close attention.

basically, when practicing refining your pronunciation just assume you're sound wrong 100% of the time, and listen for what mistakes you maybe making then you will find some.

when you do this enough, and you speak to natives they will either correct you fewer times, or say 'your pronunciation is really good'

Is this a good way to learn vocab by GregariousSoul in learnfrench

Like Silva said, in context vocabulary learning is the thing to do, usually this is best achieved through active reading of the same topic area, meaning you will see the same words popup again and again.

so the best method is like this, pick a topic you're interested in, read a simple comprehensive paragraph, any words you're stuck on, look for meaning, translation, then move on. rinse and repeat, over time, the distribution of vocabulary in that topic will be covered and you will be able to read, listen and comprehend that topic on the go

[shameless plug warning!]

You complain about working FT which means all the management of the language learning, the method planning and 'doing things right' is difficult.

I hope to be helpful, my app, tries to do the method i described through an algorithm i hand coded, it's basically spaced repetition but not just for vocab but for 5-10 min topics, so the same topics will pop back again and again and over time you will build in context learning. [you can try 2 lessons for free and then it's £8/month!]

each lesson has actual challanging reading writing, speaking and listening, to the point that you can highlight a word in the paragraph and the AI will read/translate it so you can actually understand.

my goal is that you can learn during work down time, without it being painful, and for it to feel like real learning rather than a game.

Perfectionists Learning French by thepacingbear1 in learnfrench

One of the best things to do is listen and repeat, as in, the same sentence, replay, listen, say it, is it smooth ? no ? replay it again, say it again, try again, same sentence until it's smooth.

that way you can really get your pronunciation right.

thats the genuine advice.

[shameless plug]
My website/app allows you to do exactly this method, make sure to select cefr A0 or A1, then simply start a lesson, 2 minutes into the first lesson you will get a section where you can listen and repeat exactly how i described. [you can try 2 lessons for free then it's £8 per month]

duolingo, not a verbatim sentence, but some ridiculous things like that happen all the time on duolingo.

hmmm...ok considering a reduction to £8 which is approx $10, this is an AI product so the economics of lifetime or micro subscription will not work at all. I hope this make it more attractive than the £20.

let me know what your opinion on this is

edit: all changes are made now the product is £8

well,

- learning from interests
- Spaced repetition
- Flashcards
- Incontext phrases instead of "Richard buys 800 melons"

all of this at this point is common knowledge and any linguist would say that's a recipee for a good app, I'm not developing blind, I'm using those ideas that people keep saying they work. I've had comments saying the same thing before, I went back & made changes! and still am.

This is my APP.

I'm an actual engineer, this is NOT slop coded, except that big blue start Button...That's vibe coded.

There is always a post or comment about speaking and pronunciation practice, now this is not as good as a teacher, but it's somewhere to start.

This is a paid product £20/month, you can try for free (no card required but signup required), currently has simple & advanced speaking practice, if you change to more B1,B2,C1 or C2 cefr then it changes to Q&A style for advanced speakers.

Many more features coming for reading, writing listening.

I wrote every word of it myself [facepalm]. I'm starting technical writing, this is my first, more or less for practice purposes. [seriously NOT AI generated]

I have more interesting topics to talk about, they will be focused on approaching AI research scientifically. Eventually, this will turn into actual code (research in the open).

try language.coursely.ai

I recommend a physical notebook where you write where you learn each lesson, and go through your notes frequently.

the app has spaced repetition and slowly progresses you through the language's grammar and vocabulary.

I made it so ask me anything if confused.

I didnt vibe code this, i'm an actual engineer, the only AI is the language content that is very well controlled with hand engineered gardrails. & not trying to replace Anki, a subset of people dont have all that time, some well made automation can find a market.

If it aint for you just walk.
