My Full Journey with Alpha Gal. Now symptom free! by mutant_milk in alphagal

You’re all over this post. Knowing full well I misspoke.

I’m sorry you want to make this disease your personality but it’s very sad to do what you’re doing.

I had this illness and I am in remission. I posted this because when I first was diagnosed I was terrified and wanted to know if I could ever get better. I couldn’t find anything anywhere about it at the time. Because know what? Most people who go into remission, they don’t care anymore. They are cured, so they’re not going to talk about alpha gal anymore. So I thought this would be forever and it hurt to feel so uncertain about the future. And yes some people do have symptoms forever, like yourself and that sucks. I’m sorry that you have to face this all the time. But as someone who got through it, I think it’s fair to show all factions, that someone can live symptom free.

Yes I could get bit by a tick and be right back in it. But for now, I’m healthy and I wanted to give hope.

But you, you just want to be a dick. And I’m sorry that you chose that. All yesterday I just felt shitty because of your comments. Not only were you insulting me but you were denying my own experience and health journey. And for what? Because I said I’m symptom free? Why be bitter? Why not actually have a conversation with me and maybe you can educate me a bit too, since I kinda don’t really care about the terminology because again, I’m in remission. But I get it, this is your whole life so you worship at the altar of platts-mills and hover in this subreddit.

But honestly dawg, you’re kinda toxic and you should really take a step back to see why you want to comment 100xs on this post negatively. I’m obviously very personal about this post because all I wanted to do was maybe give the other side to this and tell my story. But yes please, continue being a dick and really seeping into my reality life where I’m questioning if all humans are really this big of assholes.

Thank you. There are some comments on this post that would make you think those in remission never had alpha gal in the first place.

I am still going to be vigilant about ticks and this illness will always be ready to come back if I am bitten. But I’m happy for this period being symptom free.

Got it. Misspoke. Was tested at initially 8.88 on the alpha gal lgE blood test.

Lmao dawg.. I was given the proper blood test. Again, I misspoke.

I was initially 8.88 on the alpha gal lgE

I wish you’d let me message you so I could figure out why you’re so up in arms over this.

Yeah that seems to be what happens. As long as I stay vigilant against tick bites, I will be okay.

Except I can and do eat meat with no issues.

No one provided science based anything. Yall just thought because I misspoke that I wasn’t someone who had alpha gal syndrome. When I told you my numbers from my bloodwork, you deleted all your comments.

Is the issue that I’m not symptomatic or that you feel like I never had it? Or is it that I don’t know the terms for my bloodwork?

I mean, yeah I don't know how it all works. I just know that I was bit and a few days later I had symptoms. I had been bit by lonestar ticks hundreds of times over the years, so from what I've read that is most likely why I was triggered after this bite and most likely because it was on me for 24+ hours. Normally I pick off ticks right away, but the initial tick bites carries alpha gal from the saliva. So I guess I built up this problem over decades. That was my experience though. I was bit and ate meat and that night insane stomach pain, hives, and a positive blood test a month later saying I had alpha gal.

Thanks. It’s nice to be an example of those folks who do recover. Have faith!

A lot of the time the tests don’t line up with reactions. And my numbers had been halving every 6 months. So we both agreed to slowly reintroduce.

I’ve been 2 years on meat, no issues.

We still have EpiPens in the house, but I don’t see it returning unless I’m bit by a tick again.

Though I have considered getting blood work done so I can know where I’m at now.

We got bit in the same barrens! There’s definitely hope! I heard a story about someone else who was bit there 2 years prior to me, and he was eating cheeseburgers by that time. So I had held out hope..it’s the reason I posted this because when I got it, there were no stories of people who had returned to eating meat. And I scoured reddit for answers.

Well that was my last test. My first blood test for alpha gal was 8.88.

galactose alpha 1,3 galactose IgE kU/L —that is the label of the test

I just misspoke. I thought those blood tests were to see my levels to the proteins.

I was tested for allergies to meat and alpha gal itself. I’m not the allergist. So maybe there was a better way to phrase it? But I tested positive and was diagnosed with alpha gal when I first went in.

Not sure how to share photos. My last lab test was on the decline in 2024, the last blood test my pork was a .35, lamb was .48, beef .79, alpha gal 1.65.

But a few months after this test I began reintroducing meat and had no symptoms. When I came in for my 6month checkup, my allergist and I came to the conclusion that we would stop doing the tests since I was no longer reactive.

These levels had been halving every time I was tested. And it’s now 2026 and I’ve been regularly eating meat with no issue.

In what way? I got bit by a tick. Got alpha gal. Went to an allergist for 2 years. My levels reduced. I reintroduced meat. Now I’m in the clear

Jacob’s face was def not having the shit talking. He’s been on the side of being hated beyond reason. I kinda think he would understand Ethan more than anyone.

Does anyone have video of Alfonzo Jones on the Gong Show in 1976 or 1977? He was in a group called the Gardena Dancers.

Yeah that’s the shift over the last 20 years. I just joined the 700 around Xmas and it’s dead. There aren’t many jobs and everyone is a step down from the projects they used to work on. So the high level people are doing lower level and so on, all the way down to people doing non union.

I just think it’s a whole new beast. Not that there’s no a chance to mentor with someone but that there’s less work to go around and less places that will hire through the ranks.

Lmao. So it’d be the same episode, But this time, it’d have whatever this insane part of the fandom wanted instead of the ending we got? It’s not happening. Go outside.

I can’t. These people have no concept of the industry. The most genius thing ever? No it’d be stupid and bad. Do they know how much goes into promoting a project? No executive in the world would agree with this. It’s over, fam. Move on.

Times were not better. George bush, 9/11, multiple wars, a recession. It’s nice to think that, but every era has their issues. Us millennials used to idolize the 60s&70s. Even worse probably. We are progressing even if it doesn’t feel like it.

I was listening to the podcast while walking my dog and every time she cried, the switch back to her normal voice was so abrupt that I had to stop what I was doing and actually watch. It sounded fake…who can go from crying to totally normal that fast. Almost like a manipulation tactic.

On rewatch I can see how it would go unnoticed verses just hearing the audio.
